proper use of a Fender STRAT Volume knob

I have so many issues with the ergonomics of Strats: the floating bridge is wrong for my playing style since I pivot my wrist off the edge of the bridge when I play, the knob issue of course (at least for me and a lot of others I have heard complain about it), the neck heels are just awful, they are usually quite heavy, the switching and controls are incomplete and not at all well thought IMO (athough Fender has commendably tried to make this better recently) and I can't stand the jack cup making the cable pop out at an angle.

I love how my Les Paul's sound and I love the looser string feel of the 24.75 scale, but I avoid them for anything now other than studio/session work.

Nothing sounds better than a Les Paul. Period. But like the good looking, yet unfaithful girlfriend, it really is a love-hate relationship.

Remember Metallica's documentary??? They were playing old, relic Gibson's in the studio, but didn't take them on the road.

Having said that, I do OK when I play either style, but to me personally, the Gibson control layout is ridiculous. I tolerate it, but I don't like it.

Both my "Stratocaster-Style" guitars have the Les Paul style input jack, which is cool, but the Strat angled jack never bothered me.

I use to have all these scale length preferences and I didn't want to play anything else. After a while, I discovered that it was all in my head. Even though I prefer certain features, I can move seamlessly between them now.

I still believe that a Gibson scale, super-strat with triple humbuckers and a Floyd Rose is quite possibly the perfect stage guitar...

lol--- 45.00 on craigslist........... stupid good amp-- just stupid good --- for 45.00. HELL it would be good for the Reverb going rate (200-250 ish)
Right on! Lol my Jcm900 SLX goes to 20 as well and so does the Dual Reverbs and MKIIIs as well. Technically its cheating a bit because the master volume is 10 but the preamp volume is 11-20, but hey its still awesome! Even Nigel Tufnel agrees

Had two rehearsals tonight!!!!

@Mitch Pearrow SJMP - one was with Jim & Henry from the old Fire Control lineup. Second was with my band - Bad Dog.

I really, really tried tonight to understand what all the fuss is about with the Stratocaster volume knob. I frequently play with my pinky curled around it so, I really use it for "on the fly" adjustments.

I actually converted my Jackson back to a stock Fender control layout because I couldn't reach the knob.

My Jackson spent all day in my truck...rode 85 miles to rehearsal and was in tune when I pulled it out of the case.

I love this guitar. So reliable. All I gotta think about is playing!!!

I'll give jackson this, even their licensed floyd rose stay in tune generally pretty well. Granted i can't treat it like the 1,000 series where i have gone a literally half a year without making any sort of tuning adjustment (no seriously, 6 months and i just recently had to tweak a few of the fine tuners to get back into perfect tune) with heavy floyd use. However, i have gone on a 5 hour road trip to austin with my jackson and only had to adjust the B string. That said though... i'm still looking into having a 1,000 series installed. (yes yes I know, with the money ive already put into the Dinky, could had gotten a soloist, but i have my reasons :P )

Everyone should read this.

Thank you for posting this. I think that people who do not play professionally, really cannot appreciate this...and view my rants on tuning as ludicrous.

I moved away from Gibson (and guitars with Gibson construction methodology) because of these reasons for live performances.

My 2019 Schecter Hellraiser C1FR has a Floyd 1000.

My 2015 Jackson San Dimas has a Floyd Rose Special, but I installed the Floyd Rose "FRTIBMMS" Titanium Studs. The only issue I have seen with the Special's is the post, which seem to be soft.
