How about a thread for cool/fun stories about our Guitar/music worlds?
One I think of often was when I moved into a basement apartment and I just started getting serious about playing guitar and acquiring gear. The local shop set me up with a Peavey 412 cab, Mosvalve 100watt amp, and a Peavey Rock Master Preamp. I had two new Washburn guitars that I was learning on, but had never pushed the amp at all. I had it all set up in the 2nd bedroom of the place we were renting.
I come home one day early and the owner of the house, who lived upstairs in the house was gone, no car in the driveway. My later-to-be-wife was also gone for a while still at work. So, time to see what this rig can do.
I knew this was going to be loud, and I've been in the car audio world and know the dangers of loud. I grabbed a 30' guitar cable, cranked up the amp to 10, preamp jacked up to 10 pre and post. Walk out of the room and close the door, careful the cable runs under the door. Turn up the guitar volume and slam an A power chord.
Oh glorious tone from heavens and it was a chain saw!!! I jammed for about 30 minutes just like that before I started to get nervous someone would be home soon. Turn everything down and off, go about the rest of my day. About an hour or so later, I get a knock at the door. Open it up and it's the landlord.
Landlord: "What the hell happened?"
me: "....huh?"
"How long have you been home?"
"a few hours. why?"
"You didn't hear anything going on upstairs?"
"No. what's up?"
"What have you been doing all this time you've been home?"
"playing video games and just relaxing. What's up?"
"My room is destroyed! It's a wreck!!"
He goes on to explain that he has a ton of Baseball memorabilia in the room directly above the 2nd bedroom with my Weapons of Mass Destruction rig.
Apparently, all my chugs and power chords knocked off most of the wall hangings, which fell and crashed into a whole lot of shelves which collapsed. Complete destruction.
"nope no idea what happened....."
