Yep, that’s pretty much the only way the EHX pedal behaves....that extreme setting. That doesn’t allow for much volume knob play on the guitar though(which is an activity that I often engage in)...roll back a little too much, and things get all stutterie(probably not a word, but I’m going with it). But for your application, it should be pretty cool. I may look further in to the TC unit at some point...because the NS2 just won’t do that without the negative effects you’ve previously noted(well maybe).
 
The thing is it is switchable between 3 tweakable presets.
You can have an aggressive setting for an Metal Zone and a relaxed setting for a Blues Driver at the flick of a switch.
NS-2, Hush, Silencer, Decimator, cannot do that.
 
Had a strange problem recently...

Rig volume dropped while playing live. Moved one of the coiled, 25' cables and output returned. Went straight into the amp (DSL40C) for the rest of the set.

Came home and could not find a problem with the cable. Everything checked out.

All of my cables are Monoprice Dual-Path (2 jacketed conductors covered with 2 ground braids) with gold plated, rebuildable ends...except two...which are Musician's Fiend house brand.

I had laid the coiled section of one of the 25' MF cables on top of the Origin 50H, and it created the loudest buzz/hum i can describe.

Move the other cables to the top of the head - no noise.

Something in that cable appears to have begun to fail internally - in the middle of the cable - which allowed the cable go.pick up and transmit the OT's magnetic field.

I immediately replaced the pair of 25' MF's with new Monoprice dual paths.

Only one studio I work at uses Mogami. All the other studios use Monoprice cables and they are some of the best cables i have ever used.

Out of curiosity, has any had a cable issue like this one???

Never had an issue like yours. Any cable issues I have had was always related to the cable's plugs.

Besides inspecting the soldered connections of the cable's conductors to the plugs, do a continuity test on your cables while moving the cable around. Clamp to the grounding sleeves of each plug of the cable. Do the same with the positive tips of the plugs.

It was the strangest situation I have ever experienced!!!! It's something i the middle of the cable and not at the plugs...It's picking up the magnetic field emitted from the amp's transformers!!!!
