Papa's Got A Brand New Amp -

The only other option would be to convert a DSL40C to a head...or, go with the available-from-evetyone Origin 20H...
Gotta be honest here, love my 20 watt.

Given the choice to buy again I'd definitely go with the 50 watt version, more flexibility.

I use the 20 for recording only, when I need to cut through the band I use my JTM, or DSL. You'll be safe even if it comes from Guitar Denter.

I always call it Guitarget

And honestly, I think they have made a lot of improvements in the last couple of years. They had gotten a pretty bad rap and surely they were aware of it. Last couple of trips there have been very positive - knowledgeable sales team, fully stocked with gear that hadn't been worked over by a platoon of teenagers, clean and well run. I even bought a guitar there earlier this year for what was probably the first time in over 20 years.

I give them Hell every time I post.

Truth be told, have always had good experiences there. You just have to go into it knowing that you are more educated on product knowledge than most of their sales associates.

I've bought a couple of higher end guitars there, amps, and effects. Begrudgingly have to give them credit, always have taken care of me even when issues arose one time.

Just in a bad habit when I describe them, that and a buddy used to work there, so my opinion is kinda colored.

I had a terrible opinion of them for a long time, one that they earned by being pretty terrible at retailing music gear. But to their credit they seem to have turned things around quite a bit. And for the record I excuse the Hollywood store from the previous comments - they were always pros there, and of course the vintage room in that place is like Valhalla, but I didn't like fighting either the traffic to get there or the crowds of people/tourists just going in to see the Rock Walk or gawk around because the place is semi-famous.

We have a GC in Scottsdale Az.

Their premium room was way cool with Fenders, of course this was the closest GC to the Fender Corporate Headquarters.

Their used section can sometimes have some great gear for reasonable prices.

That's cool. I once went to the GC in Corona, CA, figuring since its right by the Fender factory they would have a lot of choice stuff but it really was no different than any other location.

I can count on one hand how many times I have been in that store, 2 of the times where when they were on the other side of the street, and a couple of times at the new and improved location.
And that was only because I would go past it daily on the way home from work.
Cheers

I’m with Chris, I think you are going to get something that was out on the floor. Not in original packing is a dead give away. I’d ask for a discount, assuming it works without any major dings and such. It certainly doesn’t hurt to ask.

I’ve been in the GC FV store MANY times over the years, especially when I was working in Tustin. They always treated me well and were willing to deal. That’s also the store where I foolishly traded in an original TS9 (and cash) for a Digitech RP-12 In the late 90s.

Good suggestions, Don...

If this was a floor model, I would be curious to know what is not knowable - if or how many times it was powered without the speaker cab connected.
Ask for the discount and play it long and loud within the warranty period. I think any damage demons would be compelled to show themselves.
Could be a compromised component longevity issue which might / might not show itself during the shakeout period though.

I believe it is mainly the OT and power tubes that dont like to dance with the devil in the pale moonlight, err, I mean run without the speaker.
Others may know better.

i was thinking to by origin 50 h but i said to my self save and get the the beast JVM ,so thats my pan. they kick ass tho, everytime i see that im i have urge to play death alley drover by raonbow.
Like I said love my Origin.

The JVM is a whole 'nother class. It's kinda their flagship model now, for the modern built amps.

There sure are a lot of knobs, but I bet it'd be fun programming all the different tones and just recalling with the footswitch.

Wise words indeed.

Most definitely use an opened box as dealing leverage!
