Thanks so much guys.
Yeah the car was something positive to look forward to, when things were negative for me.
I needed a pick me up.
And nothing makes someone happier than a new car, right?

Well, sort of.
I'm much happier and dancing for joy over the fact that I'm pain free 5 weeks after the fact.
Yep. The car is wonderful, but just can't hold a candle to the fact that I'm not hurting.
Still have two pins in one finger, but half the stitches have dissolved.
Aside from a missing thumb, my left hand looks normal from the backside.

Doesn't really function worth a poop yet, but it looks normal.

Still have a rope of stitching holding the palm side of the index finger together.

But I'm a happy camper. My pinky escaped injury, It's one of two functioning fingers.

I'm a very thankful bastard right now, for many things.

As someone that has suffered hand trauma that has required surgical correction, I must say that I am overjoyed to hear that you have been pain free! Please know that it is not always the outcome. Sometimes, there are little “reminders” that pop up from time to time....for some. The important part, if these reminders do manifest, is remembering that you do still have tools with which to work, and they can be relearned.
I am happy to see the above photos! I wish you well in your recovery Hack!
Congrats on the new ride! Sweet!

Congrats on the new ride! Sweet!
Thanks for the encouragement, Don.
I do get the little reminders from time to time. Tingles, stabs, and my index finger is numb, but only on the inside of the finger.
But considering what happened, it's nothing.
I can wash, dress, drive and eat unassisted now. For the last two weeks.
This alone is a huge victory.

:poo: Dave thats lookin awesome.
Thanks JG, yes it is looking awesome.
And due to the surgeons talents, I still have a semifunctioning hand that seems to improve & get stronger daily.
It seems weird being so joyous over such a traumatic event, but it's small potatoes compared to what could have easily been a disaster instead of an major inconvenience.
Life is short & unpredictable, my brothers.
And I'm truly blessed.
At 61 I still have my 92 year old father, an awesome wife that words just can't describe, and all you cats as friends.
Like Joe Walsh sings " life's been good to me so far"

Peace

That is truly great to hear buddy

How has your dad and wife reacted to your injury?
It's not really his wife, Greg. They're just shacking up.
We call her his hump.
These old people these days act like hippies.
Oh wait, they were... :pound-hand:

But he was startled and concerned.
Seemed more depressed about the situation than I was.
But as he heard of my improvement he's come around.
I couldn't drive, so I didn't seen him for a few weeks.
My wife took me over for a visit of pizza & beer back in August, then he & the hump went to Arizona for a week.
They just got back Friday, so I'll probably see him again this week.
Last he saw of me I looked like this...

So he hasn't seen this yet.

Still can't hold a beer can with that hand, but he'll be pleased when he sees it.
