Frustrating NGD: Courtesy of Guitar Center...

Chris that does suck you didn’t get the correct case but it is a drool worthy instrument, give em hell buddy, get what you are supposed to already have.
(I have already put the epi pups, and all the white strat knobs in my truck) for tomorrow .
Cheers
Mitch

Big devaluation off the top without the case. I have to have it!

This is a standard Gibson Case. No Custom Shop Logo or anything. Hell it doesn't even say USA
on it! I also know for a fact this model is supposed to be in a Black Case with the Custom Shop Logo.
I'm not settling for anything less...at least enough refund to buy one.
Yeah if the guitar plays that nice make them refund a whole bunch. Trouble is, where to find the right case?

Believe it or not there is one on eBay right now for $399 and $59 shipping. Exact case!

I don't think they'll give me $500 back though...I'm calling tomorrow. Either they pay
for the case, send me the correct case or they get the guitar back...has to be that way!

Great News for ME!

I called Guitar Center and got THE Best Rep EVER!

She found the only Warehoused Guitar of the model I ordered and had it shipped out to me next day air!

Unopened box, never in a store, never displayed, never fondled by Adrian or anyone else!

All I have to do is drop the one I have at the local Guitar Center! She also gave me an additional discount.

She went so far as to give me her personal cell phone number in case there are any issues!

If all Guitar Center employees worked this hard for the customers they would not be failing!

WHAT IF the new guitar isnt as nice to the hand as the old (new) one ???
Can you swap them as well as the cases???
OR?

Hey --- dont be so sure --- I might have Rubbed my junk on the one your holding now ;)

I don't have to make the return until I have the new one in hand. I'll compare them, but I doubt the wall hanger
is going to be better than the unmolested one. If it is I'll keep the best of the two...

So...I dropped the hammer on that 61' SG and leave it to Guitar Center to dampen the excitement of a New Guitar Arrival.

First thing I notice, they just slapped a shipping sticker on the original box and shipped it. No double boxing.

Next, the box has been opened and re-sealed so I know the guitar is not "Brand New"

Then, when I get the case out of the box it's a standard tan with pink interior Gibson Case and NOT the Black Gibson Custom Shop Case it's supposed to be.

Good news is not worth much I don't think because they have no idea where the original case is and they say they can't order one from Gibson
because Gibson doesn't want Custom Shop Cases floating around fooling people I guess.

They are looking for the case in the warehouse where they shipped the guitar from. If they don't find it the guitar is going back for sure!

Also, I can pretty much tell this has been hanging on a wall in some Guitar Center. It had the plastic holder with the advertised price inside the case.

Sad thing is, I really like the guitar! It sounds fantastic and it has a very thin body with a nice almost "D" style neck. Not a big baseball bat, but not too thin either.
The fretboard is very dry though and needs some attention. Don't think I'll waste my time on that right now...

I have a huge 180 Day Return window so I'm going to play the damn thing until my surgery and may even keep it until I heal up and play it some more.

I have to have that Custom Shop Case though. It's a deal breaker for me even if it shouldn't be...

GC doesn't sell new guitars in the store, they only sell demos.

Buying online with the words "New" in the add I expected "NEW" and not a wall hanger from a store in Texas.

If I walk in and want a wall hanger after examining it I'll buy it. If I buy online and it's from their used section I
get that. But to advertise new guitars and then send out wall hanger/demo's is just pure BS. I guess I should
have called to place the order in the first place...

I thought guitar sinner was just where all the pleebs went to hack the hell outta Sweet Child O Mine--- while steeling the switch knobs off every gutiar they can --- and cranking all the non plugged in amps to 10 before leaving.........wait maybe thats just me

NEver seen one on the "new" wall there that wasnt HORRIBLY set up had rusted strings -- out of tuine and missing knobs....switch tips --- or other articles--

they are a horrible excuse for a music store

but I tend to NOT buy new --- I prefer mine pre -"mojo'ed" and "characterized"......... and cheap ;)

These Custom Shop guitars are not in every Guitar Center. The only place I've seen them is in the stores that have a special
room built and set aside for $$$ instruments. It's usually requested access or has an employee follow you in. No dicking
around allowed.

I rarely buy from Guitar Center, but they were the only store (+ their affiliates) with this model and it was on sale.

they have some "spendy" stuff at our GC -- WAAAAAAY up high by the ceiling--- you have to get a goob to get it down for you with the rolling ladder......

Im only ever spelunking the used gear when their -- or I might "try" some new thing---- then go buy it on line for a fraction of the cost most everything in the GC's Ive been in would fall under "B-Stock" category at many nicer guitar shops---
