Frustrating NGD: Courtesy of Guitar Center...

So...I dropped the hammer on that 61' SG and leave it to Guitar Center to dampen the excitement of a New Guitar Arrival.

First thing I notice, they just slapped a shipping sticker on the original box and shipped it. No double boxing.

Next, the box has been opened and re-sealed so I know the guitar is not "Brand New"

Then, when I get the case out of the box it's a standard tan with pink interior Gibson Case and NOT the Black Gibson Custom Shop Case it's supposed to be.

Good news is not worth much I don't think because they have no idea where the original case is and they say they can't order one from Gibson
because Gibson doesn't want Custom Shop Cases floating around fooling people I guess.

They are looking for the case in the warehouse where they shipped the guitar from. If they don't find it the guitar is going back for sure!

Also, I can pretty much tell this has been hanging on a wall in some Guitar Center. It had the plastic holder with the advertised price inside the case.

Sad thing is, I really like the guitar! It sounds fantastic and it has a very thin body with a nice almost "D" style neck. Not a big baseball bat, but not too thin either.
The fretboard is very dry though and needs some attention. Don't think I'll waste my time on that right now...

I have a huge 180 Day Return window so I'm going to play the damn thing until my surgery and may even keep it until I heal up and play it some more.

I have to have that Custom Shop Case though. It's a deal breaker for me even if it shouldn't be...

It's a stunner, for sure. If you love it, maybe ask for an appropriate discount if they can't find the CS case?

It's very nice and plays great! My first time with Custom Buckers and I really like them!

I'm going to work that route if they don't come up with the case. I found one on eBay for $500 shipped
so they will have to give me that much or take the guitar back and send me another one.

They still show it in stock...so they must have another one somewhere...

Looks great. Really, really great.

I hate how Guitar Center can never keep track of the cases, case candy, and COAs for all the high end models. If you don't have the custom shop case and COA for an artist model or other limited edition guitar, you lose a crapload of it's value right off the top.

Big devaluation off the top without the case. I have to have it!

My custom shop last year came with a brown tan type case. Has a Custom Shop badge on it.

This is a standard Gibson Case. No Custom Shop Logo or anything. Hell it doesn't even say USA
on it! I also know for a fact this model is supposed to be in a Black Case with the Custom Shop Logo.
I'm not settling for anything less...at least enough refund to buy one.

That guitar is a treasure.

Never Ever Guitar Denter!!! They fv(k with everything, and charge you as though they didn’t fv(k it all over and ship you some randomly set up pile of whatever....instead of the “new” unmolested custom shop guitar that you paid the premium for. I will never accept anything from them that has a broken factory seal on the box again.
That said, it’s possible to get a good guitar out of them, but it will take the molestation hit in value off the bat.
Congrats on the beautiful new axe...sorry about the fv(kery involved.

The Garr Center pulled that on me with the Class 5 LP Custom Shop wrong case but do you play the case
I don't buy guitars to sell. That said theirs a reason the Garr Center is 1.2 billion in dept. I would be pissed also.
You could order the other one in stock pick the best guitar of the two and send back the lesser of the two.
And if they pull the wrong case BS send them both back.

And I don't care for GC or MF same company. The only reason I have not ordered this guitar still thinking about it.
