So Anyway...

So anyway, the Kemper blows my mind. Soooo many perfectly dialed-in amp tones. Want a set of 20-60 new amp tones from a Two Rock? That will be $ 10. Dumble? $ 10 please. Classic Fender? $ 10 please. Want them all? You can have them for cheaper than a pedal! How many tones are available you ask? Tens of thousands!

This is the first device in a long time that I can truly call a game changer.

So any way..by freak luck of coincidence..my DSL100h..modded up..is coming home. This amp has been passed around my tech friends with 1 object.,,,green channel..gain dimed ..the classic Marshall roar & lead 1 & 2..the hot rodded Marshall tone. 2 Dif Jcm 800's have been used as comps. 1 all stock my friend bought new & 1 that has been made into a monster. It now has the choke, power transformer change & many , many circuit changes. good glass... & Tuesday hoping the Peavey arrives & goes to the tech

Going to be a fun week recording..got drums done for 'Rescue Me" & mic's on the 1960bx cab for tomorrow. R- Dean V & DSL50 on lead 1 & leads on Epi V & JMP. Holding out 2 songs for the new amps & got the 2x12 (t75/ v30) & 2x12( Crate Celestion/Peavey 5150) up in the studio ready to mic

I suffered a rotated ilium durin a 2003 tactical training event. Since that time, i have had periods of time where it will get so badly out of alignment that i can't walk. Last week it flared up and i was in misery for 3 days, with sharp pains running up and down the hamstring, even across the fron of the foot. Went to the chiropractor and one leg was almost 2 inches shorter than the other.

A few adjustments and i am back in the game.

I've been looking at the Kemper and considering one based simply on downsizing. I've been playing through a colleague's DV Mark 112 extension cabinet, that weighs only 18 pounds, and the tone is remarkably good.

As happy as i am with my tube amp, moving a 52 pound amp around (daily) is becommimg a problem, in that having all that weight off to one side seems to increase my tendency to go out of alignment.

In fact, when i was recovering, i took the 1999 Marshall 50 watt SS to rehearsal one night - without a pedal board - and it really sounded great, not to mention that it's very, very light. The 50 watt SS also has much cleaner cleans than i can get from a DSL40C.

Do, now i am considering this Kemper "Toaster" a bit more seriously...

I need just enough to drive a 1x12", so probably not much.

If you don't want to drag around a Power Amp you should go for the 600 watt model. It's either unpowered or the 600 watt. No other real choices.
You could get one of the new Seymour Duncan pedal board amps. I hear great things about those.

The Kemper is also great if you want to plug into FOH or a mixing console!

I need a lightweight amp head, capable of driving a single 12" speaker. Need to eliminate pedals if possible, except maybe a switching box???

The line out feature is great for recording. I really do need to downsize to keep from re-injuring myself continually.

The head does not have any power amp. You’d need to lug around something. The powered head might be over kill, but it’s only 2 more pounds (and a few bucks more).

2 more pounds is doable. I let a guy play my modified, back up DSL40C. He fell in love with it and made me a ridicous offer...more than twice what i paid for it brand new.
