So anyway, the Kemper blows my mind. Soooo many perfectly dialed-in amp tones. Want a set of 20-60 new amp tones from a Two Rock? That will be $ 10. Dumble? $ 10 please. Classic Fender? $ 10 please. Want them all? You can have them for cheaper than a pedal! How many tones are available you ask? Tens of thousands!
This is the first device in a long time that I can truly call a game changer.
I suffered a rotated ilium durin a 2003 tactical training event. Since that time, i have had periods of time where it will get so badly out of alignment that i can't walk. Last week it flared up and i was in misery for 3 days, with sharp pains running up and down the hamstring, even across the fron of the foot. Went to the chiropractor and one leg was almost 2 inches shorter than the other.
A few adjustments and i am back in the game.
I've been looking at the Kemper and considering one based simply on downsizing. I've been playing through a colleague's DV Mark 112 extension cabinet, that weighs only 18 pounds, and the tone is remarkably good.
As happy as i am with my tube amp, moving a 52 pound amp around (daily) is becommimg a problem, in that having all that weight off to one side seems to increase my tendency to go out of alignment.
In fact, when i was recovering, i took the 1999 Marshall 50 watt SS to rehearsal one night - without a pedal board - and it really sounded great, not to mention that it's very, very light. The 50 watt SS also has much cleaner cleans than i can get from a DSL40C.
Do, now i am considering this Kemper "Toaster" a bit more seriously...
