Time to Mod Something

What I like about him is that he's so versatile... Rock, blues, flamenco, jazz, experimental... There isn't a genre that he can't play well... And apparently he is a damn nice guy, and he's also a Gibson afficionado!
;)

OK all the parts have arrived. I removed the original pick guard and what do you think I found? This is not the original pickup, or wiring. Yes that is right, this is the first time I have opened this animal up.I am taking pics as I go and they will be posted soon.

Gahr, that is a '59, the first year they were made. I got it in a trade back in Florida when I was doing guitar repair work.

Dude... This is just the purist in me speaking, but: are you sure you want to mod a '59 Gibson? Why not just restore it and leaving it all original, an immaculate vintage '59, and buy a cheap and character-lacking guitar to mod as you please and make a hot rod?

Just my 2 cents

Sergio, read my post just above yours. When I opened it up I found the wiring and pickup havd been changed at an earlier point in its life before I got it.

I read it before I replied.

My point remains the same: I would restore the original scheme and leave it all like stock... Regardless of the fact that it has had some mods already.

But that's just me

Ok so here is where I am at so far.

not original or pretty

Gibson routed over sized holes for the original pickups. Lollar builds their MM P-90 to fit the factory route.
Once I get the new controls wired I will post more progress pics.

Not sure what brand it is. It was left over from my repair days back in FL. On the bottom all it says is "Made in Germany"

OK I had this plugged into the AC15, using the same settings I use for the SG, DAMN this pickup can really drive the amp. This axe REALLY sings now. I am a happy camper.
