Time to Mod Something

Never have liked how this sounded. So I have ordered a new pickup and pick guard from Lollar Pickups. The pickup is a P90 but is sized down to fit the rout of the guitar. Will show more when the parts arrive.

It only has 1 pickup , in the bridge position. It is a standard Gibson issue '59 bar style pickup. I did not buy this for the sound. The seller at the time, about 20 years ago, only wanted I thinks $75 for it. I said sure because it looked and played good. Just does not sound good.

Pickup and pick guard have been ordered. I already have my new pots and caps, and jack. Just waiting for the package to arrive.

Years ago I bought a single pickup Melody Maker that was missing the pickup, I had a pickup from a 65 Strat that popped right in, had a very unique sound as I recall, but again.....it was a long time ago.

Well I am still waiting for my pickup from Lollar. Apparently the one I ordered is not a style that they keep on the shelves according to an email I received. I am getting sorta antzy now.

Once all the parts arrive pics and sound will follow. I love your avatar Alex. I literally wore out 2 copies of the album Super Session. My favorite side was the Bloomfield side.

Yeah, man... Super session is definitely the bomb. I have it on my iPod and often listen to it on loop... Definitely a "must have" if you like Bloomfield, Kooper, Stills or similar artists...
Rock on, brother!

Haha, I was just about to comment on Alex' avatar as well. Great record.

Gahr, that is a '59, the first year they were made. I got it in a trade back in Florida when I was doing guitar repair work.

I have at least 10 of Kooper's albums. Never enough of Bloomfield's work.

I've got (I think) 6 albums of the Paul Butterfield Blues Band. Michael Bloomfield was their guitarist from 1964-1966 - He did some really good work on their Self-Titled album and East West.
He's also featured on "The Original Lost Elektra Sessions"
I'm also pretty sure he played in their recording sessions for the next album too.
To be honest, he is probably my No 2 out of all the guitarists that I've ever heard.

Number one being?
