How to: Fretless Fender Jazz bass --under 220.00

Yes...I am now "at" the cost of a BOG STOCK entry level Affinity J bass from say Sweetwater--

The "Jaco" fretless can range from 240.00 to 400.00 depending (new used etc)

YUP.

I still remember at my mom and POP shop, I got my go to P bass for about that $220 price. Then I managed to add a Hipshot bridge to it even though I am sure the stock Squier bridge was adequate enough for my limited skills.

Just checked out my Reverb purchases as I seem to remember Ii got my latest Jazz 77 there. It was $238.50 shipped.

the bridge on the (now) fretless had a set screw STRIP on it (this is what prompted me to go all black hardware.)

it was a cheapo bridge-- as were the tuners-- The NON Affinity Squire CV models have very nice High mass bridges with BIG brass (balls) er saddles :)

Hi Brother Fretless,

It is only fitting you show up in Esgee's new Fretless thread. You defintely appreciate the value of what he did.
I flat out love the sound of an upright bass. But obviously it is not practical for 99% of today's players. Adrian and you can appreciate the best of both worlds.

Love the Hipshot -- the bridge onthe black one you posted Chili is the same LOOKING as the one on my Affinity that failed.....set screw on the North side of the A string barrel STRIPPED totally out dumpingthe stringto the deck

its all good now w/ GROOVY black hardware from MUSICLILLY ;)
delivered in UNDER 24 hours -- from AMAZON............................hard to beat that kinda service

Dude, I dig the black out, and I usually don't like that look.

Would a black pickguard be overdoing it?
With the black knob plate, it seems like it's begging for it.

Food for thought, I can do the headstock face in a nice glossy black.:celebrate:

Had mentioned a black headstock to Goo lol

In do time -- its back together and plays like hot melted butta -- love it---
crazy how different the tones are ...and the action is STUPID low

Yeah, I took a good bit (height of the fret) off the bottom of the nut.
Those strings are only about .010 off the board.
The slides should sound like a trombone now. Very fluid.
