Did you do the suspension as well? Another memory is that if you pushed down on a corner and released it, it would still be flopping around ten seconds later. In fact suspension and handling were the worst aspects of the car (cars, they all seemed to be like that).
I remember a track day at Goodwood Circuit. It was organised by the Corvette Owners Club, and most of them turned up with L88 conversions. On the straights they were very quick, but on the corners they were a disaster. Fastest times of the day were a pair of Rover SD1 - one mine, the other a friends, then third was a VW Golf. The first Vette - a monster - came fourth, and it was a full three seconds a lap slower than the Golf. Of course the rear suspension of a Vette is a very special breed of incompetent.
