Another NSGD!

All I can say is that you guys are KILLIN' me! :D

I think I have to blame IVAN for this one as his recent SG purchase fanned the flames of my SG GAS. The GAS started with the NAMM release of the 2020 Epiphone "Inspired by Gibson" collection. Once I saw the new '61 RI with the Maestro Vibrato it was all over!

So, let's just say that I had been eyeing this guitar for about 6 months now as it was posted for sale now and again on our local buy and sell site, similar to Craigslist. It started out at a price I considered to be somewhat ridiculous but I guess the guy just had feelers out. Each time it was reposted the price had gone down and down and down. Then IVAN's NSGD thread hit TTR and gave me the SG Fever! (Maybe that's a new Pandemic?)

Anyway, the price came down to a reasonable level and I started my negotiations with the guy. In true eSGEe fashion, I got him to know off another $100 and we made the deal. I am now the proud owner of a 2003 Epiphone Elite SG '61 Reissue in Worn Cherry. It is very much just like this one:

I will post pics of mine when I get home but that is at least a teaser for you.
It came with the Epiphone Elite OHSC, although it is a bit beat up. The rear of the guitar has some buckle rash and there are some chips on the back of the Epiphone Tombstone headstock. Overall in decent condition.
Since it is not in "perfect, as new" condition, I will not feel bad about sourcing and installing a Maestro Vibrola on this bad boy!

Great score ninjaking67, looking forward to pics. I like the look of the vibrolas, though I wouldn't use it much I don't imagine. A big congrats & enjoy. Congrats on the ambassadorship too. Cheers
Ivan, I love the look of the Vibrolas too. It will be all about the aesthetics as I likely will never use it. I currently own 4 Strats and all of them have the trem blocked!

As you can see, she certainly needs to be cleaned up, etc. The guy told me it has been tucked away in it’s case for quite a long while. I tend to believe him.
I can’t wait to take her apart to clean her up and check out the mythical legendary quality of the Epi Elite luthiers. We’ll see if it lives up to all the hype.

The new 2020 Epi ‘61 RI with the Maestro Vibrola is listed at $779.00CDN with a gigbag. Not even a hard case! I really liked it but it has that Epiphone questionable veneered grain on the body front and rear that just doesn’t look quite right to me.
I got this guy for much less than that, with a solid 2 piece Mahogany body and an OHSC. So far, I think I did OK.
