Bobbu Ray Vaughan has some reasonable points. &, I was on ebay checking out bodies when I read the comment.
You forgot the Blueburst corner! For about $400 USD more than that Fender Tele, you can get a very super fine Tele, aka G&L Fullerton ASAT Bluesboy... in a beautiful blueburst... or blonde if you insist! Japan's Yamano Music is listed as a G&L international dealer, but I can't figure out how to navigate through their website and see if they currently have any of these G&L's.

This one is from Pitbull Audio (California, USA):

This is actually a serious question?
When faced with a difficult decision, as this seems to be, sometimes it‘s better to go with the devil that you know....

Jr.

voting now...
in my case i always go with the different one & contrary to public opinion..learned a huge lesson last few months as i cleared the gear out,,,great amps matched with great speakers & practice more,,ya cant buy practice

Had to vote for the SG. Just lots more to love for me, but full disclosure: I have owned 5 or 6 Teles or ASATs over the years and have never figured out what people see in them. Have sworn off now I think, just can't bond with them or coax any kind of usable sound out of them.

The trick for me would probably be ditching the single-coils. I've never, ever been happy with the sound of a Fender-style single coil.

Maybe I need to try a Richie Kotzen Tele. That guy gets the most sick tone out of that thing with the Dimarzios.

You and a "Tele", wasn't meant to be. But I'm pretty sure you have had some personal good experience with the Californian-made G&L's.

Funny thing... I never would have thought of buying a Tele-style guitar. It didn't seem to be my style of guitar. Then one day at the local guitar shop, there was a brand new G&L Bluesboy and it had a spalted maple top. At the time ( 2008-ish ), I've never seen this type of wood. After that, I was asking the shop owner: "Hey! WTF is this?" … 10 minutes later, and I'm counting out the bills for it! Welcome to the world of Teles! Even more impressive: Welcome to the world of G&L USA. I'm not sure if G&L's much more affordable Asian-made "Tribute" series was around in 2008. And I've never tried one, so I can't comment on those. G&L USA produces well made guitars. Very solid feeling, and very resonating guitars. The gloss finish on mine looks like it has a sheet of glass surrounding it!

I love my ASAT, but not until after I dumped those pickups. Very shrill
If I'm not mistaken, your G&L is a Tribute series. I'm assuming those didn't come with the real MFD pickups. The MFD's are more like a nasty P90 than a regular Tele-bridge single coil. What pickups did you put in there?

I have played this guitar, it is beautiful. Godin Cajun 59 with Godin Humbucker in the neck, great tones for a Tele. No shrill tones out of this baby! And at a 1,200 price tag why would you build one. This will be the Tele for me.

G&L's are pretty amazing. The build quality and tone make the Fender Custom Shop irrelevant IMO, and the price makes them a steal.

It just so happens that I’ve been researching some G&L Tribute series products lately, and according to the published spec’s they are supposed to be the real deal MFD pickups in the tribute series. I have read plenty from bass players that are happy with them. :)

They were MFD pickups. I recall that they were supposed to be the same as that installed in the USA made G&L. I changed the bridge to HB and installed a DiMarzio Super Distortion (that I covered). I have a BKP Mississippi Queen in the neck.

Well Mr Grumpy, I gotta agree with Mr Goo & Mr Hackmaster, get that damn junior back while you still can. You know its a good one, a very good one. Get a tele later, they're always available. Even if not to the spec you're wanting, they're easily modified. You could always buy a pre-loved tele. Oh, have you got that junior back yet? Cheers

I still remember my introduction to Telecasters. Or so I thought. When I was first considered taking up the guitar, I knew Pete Townshend was playing Tele's at the time. SO, as I cruised through Gordon Miller Music i eyeballed A black Tele. Also tried some nice strats ( Big Headstock Ash Body one, and Marshall Combo amps. ( Gball and DonO might remember that store over off Joppa Rd and Orchard Tree Lane near Luskins.

A few years after this, I learned Pete's Tele's were Schecter Tele copies.
