WTF Thomann/Gibson???

Some of you may remember that my Gibson SG Special, ordered from Thomann, did not turn up in the best of shape; the bridge and highE intonation screw were stripped due to ? Incorrect size, bad installation, attempting to intonate the guitar while the strings were at tension? Who knows. SG John seems to have had a similar problem with his SG Special.

I spoke to Gibson, and they were pretty dismissive. I spoke to Thomann who asked for a video, had quite a drawn out process of them discussing warranty issues with Gibson, etc, and eventually said they would replace the bridge when the claim went through Gibson and warned it could take a long time.

Two months later, this arrived in the post today?

I've sent them an email asking them why they sent me this, and await their reply...

Obviously, I just bought a MojoAxe bridge which has been great, but the original bridge and this service/warranty claim has been poor, imho. It's consistent with Thomann, they speak nicely and do very little. As far as Gibson go, being outside the US, they offer me zero support and just tell me to go through the local distributor.

At $1800 for the guitar, I just expect the bridge on the guitar to be decent; might one even expect functional?

Sounds par for the course with Thomann. As for Gibson, no comment. I would expect it to be functional. OK, that's one small comment.

Yeah, you're right and you're right.

Sooooo many times, I've promised myself never to deal with Thomann again... The problem is, it's hard for me to get gear in Korea, and that guitar, just like my upcoming amp (if it ever arrives, when/if it does, I expect issues...) just can't be gotten anywhere else and shipped to Korea.

For example, I spoke to Sweetwater yesterday, they were really nice and helpful, but cannot ship the product I want to Korea. I spoke to the Korean Mesa Distributor, the same product will be available here in July/August and at a 20% price increase.

I got similar run around from Gibson/Musicians Friend--
But being in the states it was resolved a little quicker -- but not without ME having to make the situation right--for me -- and forcing THEM to do it --neither Gibson or the retailer "stepped up" and "took care of the customer" ----frankly I was made to feel like I was "pulling something" --- they didnt believe me and frankly didnt WANT to find a resolution--- the answer essentially was "well send the guitar back" ---

WHY so MF can stick in an open box sale and screw someone else?
WHY didnt Gibson step up and honor the warranty straight away (numerous hoops had to be jumped through first) --and even then they only provbided the part I had to do the work-- trouble shoot and repair--
No as much as some defend them ----- Gibsons customer service after the sale is crap--

NOW-- TO BE FAIR--- they (Gibson) were very polite and helpful when I called for info on my Les Paul Recording Guitar--- giving good insight and even giving me George Gruhns phone number to call and help identify year -- and more info about if all was original etc. --

I dont know what that means---??? I have my theory--- but Ill not taint yours

Disgraceful.
Give them a chance to make good somehow but make them play their hand to the end.
You already have an aftermarket replacement bridge coming, ........ Eventually.... DOH! (sorry)

Bad mouth them on social media if it makes you feel better.
Fix your guitar, play it, spend your valuable free time peacefully (or in punk-like dystopian anger if thats your bag) in electric ladyland.
Grooving with your electric ladies I mean, not a reference to psychedelia (unless thats your bag, man)...... LOL

A metaphoric Bridge of Sighs, perhaps?

(why do i slip into the slang when referencing the historical period?
Idk.
I do actually use the term "groovy" regularly, however.
not like the "Feeling Groovy" song; more in a Duke Nukem kinda way.
