Ordering from the US...

^ I just decided upon some old style strip tuners. They are 18:1 though, so should be nice to use and were under $50 delivered, so I thought good value. Funnily enough, I have 5 guitar bits currently on order from the US which are taking their time, and the tuners are the only ones which have just arrived at Incheon (usually get to me within a day from there, but it's a holiday weekend).

I agree with Smitty about the size/scale issue, and there's also the state/federal issue which is another complications that very few countries have. You could almost compare Europe to the US with regard to both scale and "state"(country)/federal(EU) scale. The EU is more efficient with regard to mail, but it's obviously not a direct parallel.

Anyways, I hope you lot are all appreciating my contribution to the US economy! :)

No strip tuners. But i have some early Gibson Klusons...

Alright, this is a good one. Last spring I ordered a Holey Board directly from them. Small outfit, probably just one guy. The label was printed and ready to ship the next day. 5 days later I am emailing the guy asking when it is going to ship. Never got a response, but it arrived the next day. The company is 30 miles from me in St. Paul. I could have easily picked it up if that had been an option.

Just checked my USPS tracking:

1) Just leaving international centre, NY - actually, it arrived last Thursday,
2) One in San Francisco distribution centre - actually it arrived last Thursday.
3) Once has departed Chicago international distribution centre, but not arrived at Korea yet - actually, it arrived last week.
4) One claims to have gone through Incheon, Korea, customs on Dec 24th - it hasn't arrived yet, and Korea Post is superb, once stuff has cleared customs it gets to me 75% of the time in 24 hours, and never more than 48 hours.

I also order a lot from the UK and Germany (both use different tracking systems), and the tracking is accurate.

I was thinking about buying a set of SD Antiquity P90s, but seems as they would be coming from the US, I'll hold off, look elsewhere.

USPS isn't cheap, they are usually more costly than other international logistics/transportation companies, but their systems/wprkings are utter shite.

hehehe from Japan to hear in under a week..my us sellers cant get it here in 2 weeks sometime..

^ that'd still be true if I was in America! :)

Quite happy today, as the final two pieces of my SG Special puzzle have arrived - tuners and locking nuts. I don't think I'll bother with a new wiring harness and/or new pickups at this moment in time; I'll play what's in there for a while yet. Or???

I'm waiting for some amp parts that shipped from Phoenix AZ a couple of days ago. Tracking number said the package should be delivered today. I just got the mail. No package. Checked the tracking number. It arrived in Miami FL last night. WTF? I'm in Minnesota.

Hey Grump, would it get there faster and easier if a friend or family member bought it in the states and just sent it directly? Or no, the same issues.?

When I lived there, I had my buds buy stuff and send it by way of military, but than again yours probably are alot different...

I'm waiting for a new used pedal in IL. UPS says it has been waiting to be picked up and it will deliver on Wednesday (2 days). I think it has the chance of a snowball in hell of making it here on Wed. I can't wait, it's a fuzz pedal (my favorite kind).

The hub system; pencil pushers say it makes the company money, but it's so frustrating for folks in the US to see some goods which are close to go travelling around the country rather than coming to them directly. I feel your pain!

Hey trident, I don't think it's the companies, it's the hub system and the way the US and Korean customs work. I have gotten stuff from the UK in three days, but never quickly from the US. The pickups I got from America took 24 days, and did a very strange thing, they first went to Redondo beach then were transferred into a DHL package; I was told this was a new ebay approach to get stuff from the US to Korea more quickly. But, it was slowed down in Redondo beach/Compton for 6 days before being sent out of the US. It then went through Korean customs quickly (this is a big problem with both UPS and USPS - can stay at Korean customs forever with their own useless procedures...), but then got to my local office in the middle of a CoronaVirus outbreak, so instead of being delivered in the usual 24 hours it took 4 days. Clearly US sellers and ebay are aware that they are losing business due to shipping issues (when I contacted the seller he specifically stated this to me), but their attempt at improving it didn't work for me this time around.

That'll be great, what pedal did you get?

That just stinks Grump....Wish it would be better for ya...Guess I was quite lucky having it transported by US Military .......@ least thats one plus that the military gave us...

I had fun in Korea....and the food was awesome...
