Is a hotdog technically a sandwich??

How about this? This is called a "toast sandwich"

Is it actually a sandwich or not? Why or why not?

When I drove truck for a living
my favorite meal on occasion was an open face roast beef sandwich.
Came with a slice of bread on the bottom shredded beef, and gravy, with a side of mashed potatoes.
Didn’t look like a sandwich at all.
But a very rib sticking meal.
Cheers

Sorry, I don't understand what you're trying to say! :)

(Actually, that pronunciation, while alien, sounds fine to my ears. As I say, it's very rare for me to get perturbed by an Australian, Northern English, American or any other form of English - it's all good. Except, tomato, and seemingly sandwich!)

How about we meet half way?

I'll still say, "Toe-MAY-Toe", but I'll accept your definition of "sandwich".

(Of course, I had already held to the same definition as you, so my attempt to meet in the middle is really kind of hollow, since I'm not actually changing anything....!)

I like your diplomacy, we compromise by neither of us moving our initial positions! :) Agreed...

If y'all are up for a real sandwich, Texas chopped brisket is the only choice.
