Attention Vette Lovers

Where I live any car or truck or van turns into a rust bucket it's living on the ocean or the crap they spray on the ice

Today we are to get 10" of snow. I gave my Aston Martin DB11 back to my father in law two years I put 211 miles on it at the insurance cost
of $14,000.00 per year what guitar could I buy for $28.000.00 the worst part was washing the wheel wells every time I drove the car road grime and muck
My wife had three Shelby Mustangs I sold one and gave the other two to her father Mustangs are girls cars at least the girls in my life.

I believe that most engine problems on new "muscle cars" are a result of abuse during break in period. Ford, Chevy or Mopar will attract people that do not know how to respect their cars and motors. My Evo is 15 years old, my wife's DOHC turbo PT Cruiser is 15 years old, 160k miles on original engine. It's all about how you treat it, especially in the break in phase.

Agreed!

And with todays techno there are oils made specifically for break ins..
And during the break in phase, I change oil like I change my shorts!

Where do these fools think all the metal goes when things are seating in...?

They get what they deserve...Ya dog it, it will dog ya wallet right back...:pound-hand:

I honestly do not feel sorry for them when it fails..I say bring it to me and I will fix your stupid mistake for a COST...

With an A$$ hole fee added on..:rolf:

We broke every car in by WOT...we never knew any better i guess...

My colleague's 2018 Gran Sport Corvette lost three engines...he's 75.

First at 5,000 - broken rod

Next motor went 7,500 - crank broke at center main bearing

Next motor dropped a valve in #8 after 3,500 miles.

GM fixed them under warranty citing 'structural-metalurgical failure' on his warranty invoices.

Currently, he has about 10,000 on engine #4 and he's looking for something new.

From a recent article by Hagerty:

To put it bluntly, the problem is the LT2 engine intended for fitment in base-level C8 models—and our source (a GM Engineer) was happy to assign blame. “The LT1 made 455 horsepower, which was a marketing decision. GM Powertrain couldn’t make that power at the budget they were given. At least not reliably. Which is why so many of the early ones blew up. Now these [expletive redacted] at Marketing say the LT2 has to be 500 horsepower—without any of the titanium hardware we need to run those extra revs. So it’s a [expletive redacted] grenade. And the C8 has a compromised intake path. The mules are doing 330 at the wheels. That’s what the LS3 did in the C6.”

Robert that's a joke I hope

Nope. It's directly from a recent Hagerty Article.

It's what I have been saying fr quite some time - I have (personally) seen the engineering emails where the Corvette team is complaining that the GM cost cutting is forcing them to use sub-standard parts in the LT2 to meet production demands and deadlines. That is why I said cheap is not good - and good is not cheap.

I'm certified in every marine engine made the first five hours brake in is critical

We never broke any engines in - in any manner other than how they were intended to be used for. As long as you don't exceed operating temp or maximum service RPM, the engine will be fine...NEVER lost an engine...EVER, and that includes Rolls-Royce Merlins, Wright R2800 and Pratt & Whitney Double Wasps, offshore boat engines (like the triple Rodec's in 'Dirty Laundry') and every motorpsort event there is.
