New Bass Report

Well Fellas, it looks like I was meant to get at least one of my old basses back.
Many of you know I had a beautiful Schecter Model T Robert Deleo Signature bass in Black with White Pearloid guard and had to sell it. That Bass was exceptional and had EMG pups in it. I posted the same model in Butterscotch/Yellowish on Page 3 and was mulling over an offer for it when I searched for Jazz basses on Reverb.com. As fate had it, a virtually new Squier Jazz '77 popped up for sale at a really good price. It had been listed only for a few minutes before I saw it and made my move. Despite my Ferenghi instinct to make a different deal for 3 basses where I could keep one I like and sell the other 2, I decided to BUY this one and enjoy free delivery as opposed to needing to take off work, make a 6 hour round trip, and initially lay out a big chunk of change to then embark on a sales gymnastics crap shoot.

Here is the result so far once I get it.
This is not the exact Bass, but one just like it.

Well-- offers and sales are 2 different things--- why didnt he take the offers and sell them?

ITs a solid deal -- -but not "flip for profit" worthy ---I had a PEavey Grind -- got it for 150 (sold for 250)
6 string is a RARE fit not EVERYONE wants a 6 string bass--- though Bastard might buy it from you ;)
The Fender Jazz---in standard "traditional" pickup form I see for 350.00 and I got one at a pawn shop for 120.00 once-- (sold for 280)
but with that pup configuration-- again gotta find the RIGHT buyer (Id trae you something for it ;))

So .....................IF you wanted one of the the 3 and could sell off the other 2 and reduce the price on your keeper---GREAT -- otherwise ...
750 is a lot a scratch for boomsticks --- when you can score totally amazingly functional ones for less
I agree, Adrian. You mentioned the pickups on the Jazz. They looked "different" to my eyes. Like similar to Music Man pups, or do Ric basses have those types?

looks had zero to do with it--

I played (and owned ) many that never stuck------I decided I would find "the one" someday --- from the second I strummed the first chord on that Strat------ it was "mine" -- comfortable as an old pair of levis and familiar as a favorite pair of slippers---
by "purist" standards its crap-- cost a little over 250.00 --- has dings and divots-------some weird discoloration at the 11th fret---- bone stock pickups and a slightly scratchy tone knob---- but I LOVE how it plays and feels and wiggles and moves under my playing---- might be a giant P.O.S. to some -- but I love it
