Got The Date.....

And may all the lady nurses be hot... :2Thumbs:

Sysco, my one surgery I had left me with definite impressions left by my nurses.
The 1st nurse I encountered was during recovery. Memory has me as very groggy, but conversational. It turns out my nurse went to my high school but was a few years older. Once I got clearer headed I asked her if she really told me that or had I made it all up in my head LOL.

I also had been given a Spinal to numb me for removal of a 3 inch nail that I shot through my foot with a nail gun. In recovery, I tried to sit up, but she slammed me back horizontal and said I did not want to stop lying down. UNLESS I wanted to get the WORST headache I could imagine. She explained that a "Spinal" headache was a doozy.
The funniest part of me being conversational with her, was I had come in off a job site and it turns out her dad was a mason on that same site and when I returned to work, her dad mentioned she had spoke of our encounter from my surgery.

After I got set up in my room, I had a number of nurses in the 4 days I was in there. The 2 that stood out were the tough one and the tender one.

No need mention the acts of the tough one, but the tender one was thoughtful, and the true definition of nurse. She made sure I was comfortable, had good food and basically treated me as more than just another body that was just her job. I made sure to thank her for making my unpleasant situation as bearable as I needed.

Good Luck Weas.

I am not going to ask how you put a nail through your foot, but I put one through the top of my right index finger and into my middle finger on a double shot, and I had a ricocheted nail into the big vein on my left hand, while trying to toenail a TJI block!!
Not on the same day luckily

Mitch, Let's just say I was framing up walls one winter as a wee 24 year old carpenter with about 3-4 months experience. Even with years of experience I still might have encountered a similar experience. Well, all the lumber was lying on the ground to be assembled, so while nailing a jack and king stud together I lost my footing on ice/snow which caused me to fall forward. Basically the path of my foot and path of the nail gun coincided and that was all she wrote. The nail went thru my foot from the top, right thru where my big toe joins at that big joint. So, every February I make sure to give a thought of thanks to my doctor who took it out and made it so I had little to no adverse effects in my walking etc.

Now, it is funny you should mention double taps. Maybe some 15-20 years later, I was nailing some oak trim up the underside of the egde of a staircase. The initial nail split the wood in about a 4 inch chunk, I got a double tap and of course that 2nd one went through my left index finger. Thankfully I got luckiest of all with that one. It went thru the little bit of meat on the top edge between my palm knuckle and the next one. It barely hurt, never got infected, and was easy to remove. I cut the head off and pulled it through with some dikes. Put antibiotic ointment on and wrapped with electrical tape to work the rest of the day. The next day I went to Dr for tetanus shot and all has been fine since.

Wow when I double shot it was like a piercing I pulled it out and asked the guy below me if he had a spare spring I could borrow
