Well, if we get to dream, then...

Back when I was a wee 10-11 yr old my dad had one of these,

He swore he smelled gas fumes whenever her drove it. He would take it to dealers and try to get them to fix it and get rid of the smell. At one dealer that might have been in PA or Ohio, I remember waiting in the shop and show room. They were also a Lotus Dealer.

This is what caught my eye.

...but my personal favorite is his all-original, manual gearbox, 928 from 1984 that has less than 70,000 original miles on it. That thing was my dream car as a kid and even now after all these years I have driven very few cars that are as exhilarating.

Gball. My 2nd job out of college was at a Porsche Audi Service Dept. I used to drive 924, 944, 928, 911, 930's to test for customer complaints. The worst drive I took once, resulted in Porsche buying the guy a new 928 engine due to him being 3-4 quarts low on oil. It was deemed that a 928 under warranty should not have been low and thus should not have suffered the damage my drive made the car experience. I duplicated the noise the guy was hearing alright.

That's horrible. Those engines are like jewels. My father-in-law had his checked out about 2 years ago, and even after over 32 years the motor is still within 98% of original factory spec. Of course, it's been maintained in a very exacting way, but that is still pretty phenomenal engineering. And the plus is that it is one of the few that made it over with a manual transmission.
