2020 Chevy Corvette C8.R's Race Engine Sounds Like An F1 Car

During the Corvette Convertible debut last week, Chevy unveiled its C8.R race car and gave the crowd a heart attack when the mystery engine revved to life.

Ford's Flat Plane V8's been doing that for years....

The Ford sounds more raspy to my ears, whereas this thing literally sounds like an F1 engine. Could just be a difference in exhaust designs?

Either way, it's nice to see Corvette build a mid-engine car.

yes-- hopefully it runs better than some of GM's "other" mid engine cars.......the Corvair and the FIERO for instance ----

Don't ever see em any more back here in the east where the 914 Unibody structure often got killed from rust making the frame part weak.

914-6 was a great car, I have also worked on and driven them. You need to keep your foot in the gas going around corners or lose it

Don't ever see em any more back here in the east where the 914 Unibody structure often got killed from rust making the frame part weak.

They're pretty easy to find in good condition here in SoCal. My father-in-law collects Porsches and he's got a 914/6 that is in really great condition, and damn is that car fun to drive.

...but my personal favorite is his all-original, manual gearbox, 928 from 1984 that has less than 70,000 original miles on it. That thing was my dream car as a kid and even now after all these years I have driven very few cars that are as exhilarating.

Not in the same class as that Vette or like you said, the flat plane v8., But this has always been one of my favorite Ford Cars.

Ford Mustang GT350 Flat Plane V8 - Code Name 'Voodoo.'

I have never, ever liked Corvettes and I wouldn't spend the $$$ for the Ford GT, although I did drive them for racetrack training courses...
