SO-- I wanted to avoid soldering at all costs ---or as much as possible mostly because I FLAT OUT HATE IT ----I prefer poking myself with a needle --- or listening to dogs stinker--- but -- sadly into every life some solder must fall........

SO -- I was (was) going to "upgrade" my Les Paul Jr with a new pup and a new wiring harness-- to prove how utter :poo: the stock pup was --- then I realized thats not fair so -- all I changed wast the pickup not the circuit board

and this will be going into another project Ive yet to "announce" --

For the PRINCELY sum of 35.00 (plus freights) ---I got this

Nicely packaged 50's style LP JR wiring harness from Gunstreet Wiring Shop--

I was very impressed with the packaging-- the personal touches (actual hand written thank you messages) and accountability (by name) of who wired my rig-- in the event something was wrong--

This is a PSA -- to say ---basically--
HEY GIVE THESE GUYS A TRY from what I see.....they dont suck :)

Looks like pretty well-made stuff. I wonder whether they'll do harnesses for guitars they don't have listed? Or custom work?
Seems like it'd be worth messaging them when the time comes.

I used to get my wiring from Martin Six String Customs but he closed down.
They are very "communicative" -- shoot em a message Im sure they will answer.

Sysco --Im glad there are members here who enjoy the soldering lifestyle--Im confident enough in "myself" to admit --- I dislike it -- it sucks-- Id rather read Denobulan philosophies in Yiddish ....and I will avoid it at all costs ...
:)

the feel and components SEEM very stout and functional-- and if you view their store you will see they offer many options in pots and caps etc --

I have some evil plans for this little harness----time will tell I cant speak to the sound at present but construction-- feel -- packaging-- and customer service were all exceptional --

SO if your IN the market for such a beastie--- check em out!!!

That is a nicely made harness. Regarding the jack sockets, I've taken to using these15692773359138956359704027581909.png
Switchcraft Dual Tip Contact item. Typical Switchcraft quality & the dual tip contacts make for a very positive contact. Adrian, regarding your dislike of soldering, may I ask, what type solder are you using? If your using the "lead free" stuff, I fully understand. I hate the stuff due to its inability to "take" to the job well unless an electronics grade flux is used. If you are using this, I suggest getting hold of some quality "resin cored 60/40 (60% tin/40% lead) solder". This is all I use & no flux. So much easier to solder with & "takes" readily so long as the job surfaces are clean. Cheers

Ive tried crappy cheap stuff--- I have a NEW (THANKS CHILI) weller soldering iron with LIGHTS on it---and good rosin core solder----

I have arthritis and well--- all this poop is TINY -- and well --- takes about 3 minutes for me to want to PETE TOWNSEND whatever guitar I am working --- I didnt of course and have advanced to --- set it aside till I am CALM and --- thats what I did and a couple days later I completed the task-- and all is VERY WELL and happy---

but -- I dont like it-- I do not like green eggs and ham I do not like them sam I am

A good quality temperature controlled iron definitely makes things easier & bonus points added for resisting the "Pete Townshend" urge.
