Gun Street Wiring Harnesses -- a buyers review

I'm admittedly a strange fellow, but I never give recommendations without aforethought. I was soldering something once with a Weller pistol-style gun, at a rather low angle, and when I pulled the trigger, it lifted a small screw up from the table and held it to the side of the gun until the trigger was released.

Coupling that event with Lindy Fralin's warning about potential for damage to pickup magnets from soldering guns, I thought it worthy to mention.

Not arguing with you or trying to discredit you!

I realized you were passing along information from an ostensibly reputable source.

I put this in the "better safe than sorry" category.

It takes more to degauss a magnet than the mere presence of another magnetic field. The strength, orientation, polarity, and duration of the degaussing equipment and operation is important.

I guess this is one of those things that ~could~ happen, if you had the body of the gun right next to the magnet in the correct orientation. However, usually, the gun will be some distance from the pickups.

I'll probably even think about it more often, now.

But, if I needed to make a quick repair on my guitar and all I had was a gun, I'd probably go ahead and use it if the wattage was not so high as to cause damage to a part.

Did we give up when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?
Hell, No!!

Your hatred for soldering from past bad experiences is preventing you from giving it a chance with the help available here.
I am suspicious of circus folk.

I understand the other issues you have mentioned, but honestly, it is not that difficult, and could really open new worlds.
Like monoshock in the whoops, man.

Oh hell let him not like soldering, it gives us something to pick at him about, plus its his way of supporting the economy of small cottage industry business . . . like Hackmaster
