It seems the Burny SG that I modified the 
out of and refinished years ago seems to be the go-to these days. I played it at a gig in Providence, RI at Alchemy last week. I was playing in a "Ramones" style punk rock band, and played the SG into my 100 watt Marshall JMP and a loaned Marshall 4x12, with no pedals. Just guitar, cable, and amp. It sounded amazing! I haven't been in a place where I could just plug in and make noise for years. The sound system was incredible. We had excellent monitors, and I could actually crank the amp, then hear everyone in the band over my self indulgence. We were still no where as near as loud as The Queers were, which I was truly surprised. Still trying to get some photos of the gig, but here's the old stand-by.

Tonight, the direct afternoon sunlight took my "real" Gibson Les Paul out of action - couldn't keep it in tune, but it had very little effect on the Replicas.
Since I was only playing rhythm on these sets, I put the 1987 Squirecaster into rotation...

why would it not stay in tune? what was the cause? We need to know. What did the sun do?
My experience with genuine Gibson's has been that direct sunlight - sufficient to make the instrument warm - and in this case, hot - causes dramatic tuning instabilities.
The more rigid Maple necks are not affected as much it seems..

note VOLUME KNOB location...Functional for swells (I have been doing many with this Canuckistanian beauty) -- but NOT so close you BANG INTO IT when strumming a chord......yes Im talking to YOU Leo Fender...........
