Gents, I am this close to pulling the trigger on a 2004 Epi Les Paul Standard LQ Series Made In Japan by FujiGen. All the reviews indicate they are amazing and on par with USA made LPs of the same era. While that may be a bit of an exaggeration, they seem to have all the right specs from the open book Gibby headstock to the long tenon neck joint, lacquer finish and one piece neck. They have the Gibby bell shaped truss rod cover and ABR small post bridge.
This particular example has a plain maple bookmatched top in honey burst, CTS pots and Russian PIO caps. It has been upgraded with Gibson '57 Classic/'57 Classic Plus pickups.
It looks very much like this:

Anyway, I am looking for any last minute comments or experiences with this model.

That looks like a fine example of those high end Japan made Epiphones. Nice color!
I was really interested in finding one of those around 2009-2011. They never pop up around me though, and I was not in to buying one without trying first, back then.
My Gladiators popped up locally during that time, and I wound up going in that direction. No lacquer though...poly...
My GG-258 has ended up with 57/57+ zebras, and I really like them in that Les Paul style guitar much more than I ever did in my SG.

Don, This is the first time I had ever heard of, or seen one of these. Given the reviews I am planning to go see it tomorrow evening. It has the '60's neck (big plus for me) and an Epi HSC to go with it. The asking price seems to be in the right ballpark. If it feels as good as it looks, it will probably be following me home. I plan on taking my 1990 LP along to play them back to back.
Then the big decision will be if it is time to say goodbye to the '90 Gibby.

but-- but --- but ---- the headstock --- its OPEN BOOK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HERETIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

looks awesome good luck Dude!! :)
Hahahahahahaha! Yep....several companies (besides Epiphone) have agreements with Gibson to be able to manufacture SG & LP style guitars with the open book headstock for the Japan market.(not for export to North America) but used guitars know no borders...but they’re getting to know CITES.
