Gibson just lost a lawsuit and a subsequent appeal in Europe. They were suing for...you guessed it... trademark infringement on the V shape.

This video is over an hour long, but the Gibson content is within about the first 9 minutes:

Maybe the attorneys will bankrupt the whole enchilda------

NOw can the folks that won in Europe counter sue -- for liable and defamation and frivolous lawsuit and a WASTE OF F'ING time and for general "Gibsons becoming a bunch of DOUCHENOZZLES????"

I think the DOUCHNOZZLE part is increasingly easy to prove -----

Does anyone know what the statute of limitations is on BEING A BAG OF DICKS?

ALSO seems German courts are good to go --- so NO WORRIES on the SHarkfin headstock bea.

Well, you all know I have always been a pretty staunch defender of Gibson, but their recent litigious streak is a real problem. They are starting to look like whining idiots, and the fact that this is happening so soon after the new management team took over is particularly disheartening. I do sincerely hope they pull their collective heads out of their bums and stop this nonsense or it is really going to harm them in the eyes of us players that buy their products.

If they continue this, I think it could be just as harmful to the company as the whole branching out and becoming a "lifestyle" brand thing. And just when you thought they had come to their senses and had started listening to the customers regarding which guitars people really want from them... I am disappointed, to say the least. I mean, I will always love and cherish Gibson guitars, but I have problems buying new stuff from companies that clearly are d**ks.

Agree completely. This is no bueno, and I have not heard of or read about a single player supporting them in this. And seriously, come one...banging on Framus and Dean? There is not a guitar player on the planet that confusedly bought a fu@king Framus thinking it was a Gibson.

I'm much like you, G-Man.

I think Gibson makes some of the classiest-looking instruments out there. I really like Gibson designs and I really want to see them succeed...and reward their employees accordingly.

But, the recent litigations are like dipping a chocolate candy bar in vinegar.

Look, I own nothing but Gibson guitars and I am not about to stop playing them but this stuff really sours me on the company as a whole. If I need a new axe I may just be looking for a Heritage next time 'round.
