Your guitar tones

Well...as a musician, I have to be able to comment objectively on anything that takes place in the studio work environment because i am paid to do so.

But as a listener, I'm not bound by such considerations or restraints and I am allowed to interject opinions.

If a song doesn't grab me in the first 10 seconds or so, I will never listen to it. There are songs that many refer to as "classics" from 30 years ago, that I still change channels to avoid hearing after 30 years of being uninspired by them.

Now, for a 25.5" instrument with single coils, Axel Rudi Pell's tone is searing and hits like a sledgehammer...something I need to hear if a given song is to engage me.

No tokers in this lineup...

I respect your right to your opinion, but I can hardly believe that only ONE Strat player is worthy of your praise...there must be a couple others you can tolerate and possibly enjoy...Hendrix? Blackmore?

I know my praise is but one voice in a sea of many and worthy of nothing, but nonetheless, I do like Blackmore's technique as well as Hendrix. I also like SRV's technique, but I kind of tolerated their tone in general. Like Yngwie...I respect his skill and technique but the 25.5" / single coil combination leaves me uninspired.

Here's an example.

Listen to just the first 45 seconds:

And then the same 45 seconds here:

The minute Rudi strikes a chord I am instantly leaning forward, totally engulfed in that tone....

Blackmore,Tipton, Downing, Smith, Johnson, I know there are many more but this comes to mind first.

Here is a track that Don P laid down 4 years years ago for an online project we did together, this is only Don P...

This is the same track after I added my out of sync wannabe lead track featuring Anita (hecket) on the bass track...
