Yeah, I'm also very sorry to hear that, Grant. I'm an embodied and experiential cognitive scientist, and what folks don't realize is how completely we are interconnected, so not only are you suffering in your hands and feet, nerve endings, etc, but your brainstem is suffering big time which causes stress, lack of homeostatic balance (this just affects every part of you negatively, takes your edge off, it's like being physically angst-ridden in your skin and sinews) and all sorts of other independent discomfort and groans which are very individual.
I hope you can find a way of dealing with the situation; many folks take a little bit of zanax daily to help (promotes serotonin from your basal ganglia and numbs the pains around your branistem which was our core self before the pre-fontal cortex developed - obviously, that's quite an over-simplification). Often herbal remedies help, but it's really unique to each person.
If you're able to reduce the effects of diabetes, that'll help quite a lot. Mental and physical wellbeing are so intwined. I wish you the best - many folks are able to find good solutions that work for them such as hemp oils or tiger balm rubbed on your neck, shoulders, ankles and calves - these are important interconnecting nerve areas.
