Merde... a gap of 2 mm. I did completly overlook it when checked if the neck was still fitting; it opened up to its full width whe i finally adapted the depth of the neck pocket.

Closing it will be a bit tricky. Maybe i use an inly of rosewood - make a contrast if You can't hide it...

As far as can be seen with the heavy clamps attached the fit of the fingerboard seems reasonable (good is also something different).

I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one who occasionally makes mistakes. Actually, mine are much more than occasionally.

.. and mine are frequent. That build is a permanent exercise in working around severe mistakes. Note another workaround at the side of the upper horn.

We all make 'em - happens. Like an old guy in a machine shop once told me - you keep an eye on the ones not making mistakes because they are hiding them and/or blaming them on others - BECAUSE, we all make mistakes sooner or later - happens.

Contrast sounds good and it will probably look nice/good too (at least I think so).

I luv'n all this hand built stuff. Great threads.

Despite the severe mistakes i made it playable. The mistakes will be corrected as soon as i have a good idea how to deal with it. And with a few other details on the back. Luckily the body has just a thin oil finish-

New poti knobs are needed. Ideally made of walnut. Or rosewood. And the bass requires some active electronics.

I still need to practise this kind of work...

But the third part of the top can be glued on. BTW, all glued with fish glue. No, it does not stink like the fish of Verleihnix. But it can be opened using heat and a knife.

And finally the body is closed. Here the nightl clamping photo:
