Ceriatone OTS Mini 20 Combo

Thanks and good advice Don. I have been trying to prove to myself that I can capture the room. Now I will work on altering it.

I think I was hearing the mic’s contribution to the room. It’s a 991 right?
Here’s the frequency response chart for the MXL 991:

Note that it starts to ramp up its sensitivity at around 1.5k.

Yep, the 991. So as one might expect from a small diaphragm, according to the chart, the bass response is lacking, correct?
More that the higher end of the spectrum is accentuated. note the fairly flat response from 40hz to 1.5khz. You could set up ReaQ to mirror the response curve up in the highs, and leave the lows alone.

Please explain. Wouldn't I want to accentuate the lows to match the highs or something?
Working right now. If you Dropbox or email a Reaper project with tracks, I’ll set one up for you tonight with a couple of the different equalizers in Reaper.
Subtractive eq, in digital is better than additive, as a rule.
Analog is a different story...more gear dependent.

Thanks!

I agree about the EQ.
Subtractive works better.
To simplify:
I always EQ'd live systems by taking away the stuff that sounded bad.
If you take away all the bad stuff...
