Hot Rodding a DSL40C???

Gball, plus don't tell anyone,,,,,,,,,,,,, but I am hunting a Mesa too.
This one has been on my list since before I even had a bass. My bass player had one stored at my house awhile back in the early 2000's.

Haven't spent enough time with one to form an opinion, just noodling in the shop. They seem really nice for the money though.

Back in the mid 90's there was a Randall Combo in our drummer's practice room, where we normally went to learn new songs. It was solid state, 1x12, covered in grey carpet-like stuff, and if I didn't feel like bringing my amp I would use it and the little thing cooked. Loud as hell for a little SS job. Not like tube wattage but it definitely held its own.

Edit - just googled and it was a Randall RG-50. That thing was rad.

Oh, no doubt about that! I have never seen a place quite like it, really don't know how they do it. I know a lot of it comes from students at UMD selling their gear to buy beer and pot, but that doesn't explain all of the variety and crazy rare stuff they seem to always have.
 
Gball. I bet you would not even imagine how their latest location is in Beltsville. I went to probably the one I liked the best in College Park and bought my mesa Road Ready 4x10 there. Now this store is even bigger but I sort of hate how many many guitars are just kind of barely hanging on homeowner garage type tool hook things instead of nicely displayed safer.

Thankfully my ES 135 was in a better place up behind their counter. It was dusty but not all fondled by who knows who and 13 year olds.

Beltsville? Ha! A town named for its proximity to a highway.

I've only been to the original College Park location of course, and it was an amazing place. I do hope they managed to keep the weird kitschy charm. I bought one of the best Les Pauls I've ever owned at that place actually. A '96 HCS Les Paul Standard that I could kill myself for ever letting go. Especially because I let it go in an ill-advised trade that I regretted almost immediately but the guy wouldn't reverse. Live and learn.
 
Not sure what weird Kitschy is, but it's weird enough even Goldie would like it.

You "trade" sounds like my seller's remorse on my 79 LP STD
