why people be hatin on RINGO

It's what I can learn Yes I was trained a Jazz Drummer My first gig was with a Big Band three week's into drumming what saved me was
knowing how to read charts. For ten years I would practice 5.5 hours per day and private lessons 3 times per week
Poor people have big screen TV'S Rich People go to Museums and have personal Libraries.
I have found a deep bond with the top Drummers in this world we talk for hours
Guitarist I repair their gear not so deep.
When I asked my wife what she wanted top on her list a Drummer would I be willing to learn
I set up my drums at Anna's house the look in her eye's.
Ringo got a prize wife why ??? Drummer.

I've been playing drums, or trying to play drums, for a little over a year. I still pretty much suck - lol. But, I have got a little better here and there. But, it's not like I'm going die hard at it or anything. I figure I'll keep plugging away and see what happens.

If you can't afford a good teacher start with the book Stick Control by George Stone play each measure 20 times then play 1/4 1/2 3/4 and full time that's
80 times each measure. And you will be amazed what it will do for your guitar playing. And you think you have that down go forward reverse inverted or
inverted reverse forward and so on the possibility's are endless. Then apply that knowledge to your music scales
On drums if your having problems learning a song just slow it down and work your way up to speed.

I do have that book. I was using it at first with a pad - then, switched gears to playing on the drums. I need to get back to the practice pad the rudiments again. I think it took the first year just to figure out what I wanted to do on the drums, kind of fumbling around. This year I am ratcheting it up as in sticking to working my way thru the Successful Drumming disc set the wife got me for Christmas. Last year I bounced all over the place. I'd love to have a teacher, but I honestly need to be spending money elsewhere at the moment.

This does not make me hate him, but it is a window into why some may learn to dislike him, given other similar experiences

If all the famous musicians spent all their time signing things for people that's all they would ever do.

Everyone has that attitude "it's just this one thing". But it's not just the one...same idea if everyone who
visited a rose garden picked just one rose. Soon there would be no roses for anyone to look at...Perspective...

I've always thought Ringo is a great rock drummer.
His style is totally unique IMHO. So I'm not surprised that he's misunderstood.
When the Beatles needed rock solid, Ringo provided it.
When they got stratospheric, he stepped up.
When there were too many big egos in the studio, Ringo laid down
the beat. Which was the point. Sometimes the drummer brings home
the ship. (actually a lot of the time).

The Beatles created some of the most unusual and interesting music of
the 20th century... and there was a lot of really interesting music recorded
during that time. Not everybody digs it, that's fine. But a lot of it ages very
well, compared to other music of their time. They did fine covers in their early
days, which I've always enjoyed. And their original songs have been covered
by almost everybody.

But drummers in cover bands have a hard time playing like Ringo.
And that's okay... even Ringo would say, play like yourself, not like me.

what truly makes Ringo a great drummer.................................................................time eternal

he is still inspiring (hot chicks who can play the "F" outta some drums!!!!) many decades later ....................................

THe guys SEEMS like a a cool mellow dude to hang out with ......

as well as he is a GREAT drummer.,

I think if you look back you will see that Ringo was a radical drummer, who at the time played like a wild man.
If you compare him to other rock drummers of the time he was far more aggressive.
Ringo was cutting edge.

There is an anecdote I heard once about Ringo Starr doing a press interview with a guy from the Howard Stern Show called Stuttering John:

SJ: So Ringo, what did you do with the money?

Ringo: ….…? What money?

SJ: All the money your mother gave you for singing lessons!

Ring: Well, I actually spent it on Fish 'n' Chips.

The original Good Sense of Humour!
And drumming-wise, spot on.
