I see Ringo as the ultimate musical litmus test: The moment someone suggests that he is anything less than a spectacular drummer and integral part of the Beatles' music I know, unequivocally, that I can cease having any kind of honest discussion about music with that person as they have lost all respect from me. Time to move on to sports or some other topic.
I met Pete Best once. I talked to him for a few minutes. Eh, he's no Ringo.

mad more $ and laid more hot babes than I can even imagine ----- and i have a great IMAGINATION!
you know HIs band mate MR Harrison is responsible for the Monty Python movie LIFE OF BRIAN getting made -- seems Eric Idle and George were friends -- they "shopped' the movie to the usual channels no one BIT-- George put up the needed $ --- (got PROFIT form it Im sure!!!) -- but -- what a DUDE!
He's the Best. Ringo wasn't bad either.
Come to think of it, Zak Starkey isn't a bad tub thumper either.
That was really good until Daltrey started singing. His voice is wrecked, time to retire.
A very good drummer I play with all the time says Ringo is the most misunderstood drummer of all time. He says Ringo is left handed but plays on a right handed kit so a lot of drummers can't figure out what he is doing. He says it is very hard to play like Ringo if you are right handed.
I agree, gball. In his prime, Roger sure had good pipes.
I also had an even harder time listening to some Tesla recently. Jeff Keith's voice is almost as one viewer stated, sounds like Cartman from South Park singing.
Oh yeah and about Ringo playing right handed kits when he is a lefty. I have an instructional video by Simon Kirke where he said that exact same thing on trying to replicate Ringo and finally figuring out he plays like a lefty but on right handed setup.
Ain't that the truth! No matter what the subject matter is, drums, vocals, typing, mechanics, doctors or what ever, there is always someone better.I can't bag on anyone. There's always someone better...
