What about throwing in some different pups?
I second that motion. Rockin' Robby would love it!

Back in the day, in the places we couldn't have the volume, I'd place the head of my SG on the speaker cabinet and use the feedback it generated, but with control. Pretty cool for some Hendrix or Butterfly to mention only a couple!
I can dig it...these Gibson's are really hot, so I guess it's just nature of the beast.
Mine measures nearly 15.5kΩ - which is slightly hotter than my 500T!!!!
Do you mean the 498T pick up Rockin' Robby?
;>)/
That's the same like on my Gibson LP...I read somewhere the 498T is Gibson hottest non-signature Alnico pick up. Only the Angus Young sig pick up is hotter but I don't know by how much.

Yep!!! 498T
Which has more output, though?
The 500T is supposedly a higher output pickup than the 498T.
I am inclined to believe this since the 500T has a ceramic magnet, which can be charged to have a stronger magnetic field than alnico.
Tell you what, the static cling 'scratchy' noise when passing your hand along the back of the guitar body - a common malady with Gibson's - is very annoying...
Witty post guru!I second that motion. Rockin' Robby would love it!

Have you tried rubbing a dryer sheet over it?
How about spraying it down with guitar polish?
