My stock 2016 Gibson Les Paul 50's Tribute loves to feedback. I have to constantly roll off the volume when not playing, but my more docile guitars just don't sound as mean.

Funny, isn't it????

Watch Gary Moore's video for Cold Day In Hell Live London 1992 and watch Gary rolling the volume off between every phrase.

I think you arent hitting the proper Jiggawatts ;)
are you getting 1.21???

We were playing at near 3/4 volume on the VS265, so it was definitely high volume to be sure. My 498T measures a whopping 17.5kΩ @ 75°F...way outside the published specs.

Feedback is good especially if you know how to control it. Of course you use the volume knob to control the feedback...that's what it's there for. My 2008 Gibson Les Paul Studio is basically the same guitar like yours Rockin' Robby where it's fully chambered.

Back in the day, in the places we couldn't have the volume, I'd place the head of my SG on the speaker cabinet and use the feedback it generated, but with control. Pretty cool for some Hendrix or Butterfly to mention only a couple!

I couldn't hear it at first Rob, so I put my headphones on and yes I hear it, its in your face for sure, strange. The tone overall is good. But do you want to have to use the volume every time to cut it back? I might have a different out look on pups than you do. I like pups that are bright and clear, from the video those pups seem to me to be on the muddy side. It seems to me you like the sound of them, what about tryin a different brand that is similar in tone. I think the 498T is the problem. I would not want to use my volume control like that throughout every song.

You know, the tone from that Les Paul works very well for what we are doing. My Gibson S-G sounds good too, but doesn't have near as much gain. When you plug them in, back to back, the Les Paul sounds like you kicked on an overdrive pedal - and I run no pedals of any kind - that's just the best way I can describe the effect.
