Gorgeous Godins

Well instead of starting a new thread, I’ll just start here. ITS HERE. OMG, it is gorgeous in person. Neck is outstanding, basically a wide thin. Here’s the seller’s writing up:

The Artisan series guitars were Godin's first thrust into the boutique guitar business.
This TC features a stunning AA Quilted carved maple top. A carved top Tele is pretty rare indeed and Godin was building these in the USA and Canada up until 1998. This is an early and rare model with beautiful figured/ birds-eye maple neck and ebony fretboard. As you can see this guitar is beautiful and will make all your tele friends green with envy. Rest assured they will not find another one.

Today's High end Godin's are also excellent guitars but IMO the Artisan series represented the golden era at Godin. The pickups were designed and wound specifically for this guitar by Godin by Schaller in Germany. The neck feel is exceptional, modern yet familiar in shape that makes for low action and effortless play all day long. The original Godin hard case is included too.

The is a new guitar that has never been played. It's been on display at our shop for a few years and then it's been inside its case until now.

Thanks S5. The only slight disappointment was it did not come with any paperwork. So now I gotta do some detective work to at least figure out what year it is. There is no serial number. I haven't removed the electronics cover yet (still has the original plastic film on it). I wonder if there is any markings there. Might do that tomorrow.

Have played it through the Evil Twin last night and was just strumming away through the Mesa. The neck pup is kinda like a strat neck pup but not quite as straty. The bridge pup is a humbucker (coil split with the tone knob) and not too hot. Have not played it dirty yet, was just enjoying the clean tones and then with a little chorus and reverb.

I will try to find some info on it Don O. I saw from the picture that it looked like the plastic was still on the electronics cover.

Don O Seems to me you have the Artisan T.C. 1 , with 2 Godin twin coil pickups with Michael Braun push-pull EQ tone system. The TC1 was discontinued in 1998. From what I could find I think yours could be a 1995. I read some reviews the guys that have them love them, there was a guy who bought one in 1998 he bought it for $1800. There was another guy who contacted Robert Godin in 2005 asked him if he would build him one he said sure for $3,400. I read some of these guys would never sell them off. They loved the quality of the build and the fast neck. It was mentioned about the clarity of the pickups, the guy loved the clean tones. One guy loved the guitar, but wanted more from the pickups he put Lace Silverlake pups in it.

I saw the Signature of Robert Godin on the guitar. It looks like to me the guitars built after 1995 have serial numbers.

I guess I don't see the pickup match yet. Mine seems to have a single coil and a twin coil.
