Gibson Flying V2, Ever heard of these?

Drumoid, I have one friend who is like 6'8 and close to 400lbs plus. He almost makes a standup bass look small and guitars look like kids toys.

Now that guitar is SICK & PHAT!!! I love V guitars and that one is stellar looking! The only problem is that you can't really bend the high E string up on the 22nd fret to a 24th fretted note since the 22nd fret is incomplete.

6'4" and didnt miss many meals by the looks--- he was a healthy fella --

I am always blown away by his upside down playing --- all them early lefties-- that just FLIPPED it over---------totally trips me out how they played CHORDS!-- its all upside down and back'ards.........scrambles my brain watching --

most the songs I learned -- I learned watching MTV and other live stuff---- recorded it-- watched the players HANDS -- positions-- chords-- frets----------but to this day watching ALbert blows my damn mind

go -- grab your gutiar-- try playing all your SOLOS -- on the low E and A .........................................try I dare you -- thats where Alberts playing them-- not down where we do------

Granted with paws that size it was probably easier for him than the other way round-----

Ya he was SG, I haven't seen anything like srv since..One of the greatest..and Alberts playing style gets me man, he would bend those notes upside down which made for a unique sound..and like you said, it's trippy to watch him play..highly unusual..He was one of a kind that's for sure..and whats even cooler is, a blues man playing a V..I think he even had a Randy Rhoads RR1 V but didn't see him using it onstage..I did see a pic once of him playing it sitting down..cool stuff..

oh, and as for those pickups in the V2 Gibby, I wonder how they wound those dang things.very strange..but cool..

Dont know who this guy-----I mean I knew at one time but cant think of it--Not gary -- the other guy with the strat......
He plays lefty but has the strings in the righty position I believe.....

I was thinking that it is possible maybe they are like a normal pickup and shape underneath those uniquely shaped covers, but I could be mistaken. SO, it is a good question.
 
Imagine the surprise. None other than Scott Grove has a V2


So far what I have heard from these clips, the darn guitar does have a great sound.

When the V-2 were in the stores for sale they couldn't give them away. Ken that ran the music store by my house 1980-1983 would call me when
someone would sell a guitar for cheap. I got a 1963 Black Gibson flying Vee for $300.00 cash I thought it was fake due to the non gold hardware.
Years later I let the Gibson Rep. check it out it was real 5 were made in 1963 only 3 were accounted for and my 63 was the only black one
I sold it to a collector. He also got my 1968 Strat and 2003 R-9 Gibson Les Paul and paid cash Reese brokered the deal. I could not travel home with that amount
of cash so I donated it to my fathers foundation so I lost $400K I had the guitars and amps in Seattle when I would travel I would play with bands that I was
in 1980-1983 I had them at a friends house I got the guitars out OK but when the movers showed up Randy's wife attacked me fractured my left arm and jaw
Got tasered by the Seattle Police Lisa got arrested but my amps are still at the house and they are divorced now so I'm a looser X-2 I have retained council
and they have my amps on video. I call the Attorney for an update and just get a new bill. Merry Christmas.
 
I sure hate hearing stories like that, 67. Same kind of stuff happened to me when my houses were robbed. I lost small change compared to you. But having had my family heirloom LC SMith Double barrel shotgun stolen as well as my Ruger 22-250, all my aluminum stepladders and siding equipment stolen from my house and yard to likely pay for drugs was as suck azz for me to endure.

never had 400K to lose----------that must suck on levels I cant imagine--- truly -- I think I d go postal over a 400k loss---
