NVSGJrD!

Congratulations, Gahr... Nice to know that this very special guitar is in good hands, and will be well taken care of. Hopefully you'll share with us some of its sweet tones with a clip real soon... :fingersx:

The Crazy Parts lighting bolt bridge looks awesome... :yesway:

Do those Schaller tuners feel good to you?

Thanks! I will post soundclips as soon as I have the time to do it.

I haven’t really played the guitar enough to say much about the tuners. But my first impression is that they are smooth and work well.

I feel that way, too. Forces you to learn picking dynamics and volume & tone manipulations.
In many ways there is something liberating in working with a "limited palette". You have to work with what you have, and you fin out there is actually quite a lot you can do with such merge means. And when the guitar sounds killer to begin with, what more do you really need? Don't get me wrong, I'll always live my double pickup Gibsons, but hey, every now and then less is more.

The nut is not brass, it’s just really discolored...

Aaaand I was wrong there! It IS actually brass. It was just so damn dirty it looked like discolored bone/plastic. Now that I have played the guitar a bit, the brass is pretty shiny on the edges. I have never had a brass nut guitar before, and it's definitely not stock, but it works just fine, so it's not going anywhere soon.

That's pretty interesting; with that nut and the Schallers, it seems like the previous owner wanted it in it's most playable form, which is great (would look nicer with some creamish peg heads though).

Hey Gahr, Incredible lookin' SG..that is sweet..I see you found some bushings that will fit vintage style tuners..I knew they made em, just had to find out who..but since you found em, your all set when u do switch out..anyway, never played a vintage instrument but I bet there's nothing like it..

Congrats..!!..

As I understand it, the previous owner did a non-standard hole adjustment to get the Schallers in, so I'm not sure off the shelf bushings are available. But, with perhaps custom made bushings then Gahr can put in the traditional three in a line tuners which'll work and look great.

Soundclips? You play so well that it would be a delight to listen to.

I'll try to record some soundclips sometime this week. But it seems the bursitis I had in my left shoulder this spring has come back, so I have to be pretty careful for a couple of days. Moving my upper arm hurts, and I really can't lift it properly more than about 60° outward from my body. It never f****ing rains but it pours. I just have to laugh at myself, I'm getting old.:D At least I have beer (which I can drink with my right hand).
