Well I didn't expect this...

Killet. And Gibson should have never gotten rid of the Faraday Shields...oh, but they didn’t use them in the 1950’s so they had to go.

An ‘81 coluld have either T-Tops or Shaws. Either way you win. T’s are classic tone. Shaws have a midrange hump. Both awesome.

Cool... Never seen that type of shielding around the selector switch and the jack. The metal plate/shield for the pots eliminates the need to run separate ground wires to the pots... :yesway:

Is the guitar ultra quiet?

What pups are in there?

Well crap, I didn't take a picture of the selector switch cavity. Just fixed that and low and behold the switch is mounted in a "can" and the cover has a metal foil backing completing the faraday cage.

You can still buy the 'ashtrays' for these guitars. They are being reproduced.
Do you have a link to where I can get one? My Heritage 80 standard has the ashtray & cans for the switch & output jack, but my LP traditional only has the baseplate for the ashtray. I agree with gball, Gibson should still be using the Faraday shields.
Really nice custom Don O. Cheers

No link on hand, but saw several kits on E-Bay....

You should cut the lower horn Don and flip it around and glue it back on for a Devo guitar. What do you think about that?
