Cool... Never seen that type of shielding around the selector switch and the jack. The metal plate/shield for the pots eliminates the need to run separate ground wires to the pots... :yesway:

Absolutely no noise. Next string change I'll pull the pups and report back. This is a stock 81 LP C.

You can still buy the 'ashtrays' for these guitars. They are being reproduced.
 
What u mean no noise? As In Pups aren;t working? or no adverse noises?>

Floor or "white noise" is virtually eliminated with proper shielding. Have you ever set a cell phone on a guitar that is plugged in and called it???

I go out of my way to shield everything and also use shrink wrap to insulate all the bare conductors and especially the unused (energized) legs on the volume and tone pots...

But, in this case, the 3 ashtrays totally encapsulate the electronics, so its just a faster way to do it during factory assembly...
