Mesa Filmore 50

I still can’t decide if I want to go for the Filmore or the new Rectoverb.

ooohhh thats a tough one.........

the Filmore has a more ---- relaxed look to it--- its not FLASHY in looks it can easily slide into an existing ampo space with spouses probably not able to really TELL the difference and the big ......logo......with the .......well.....chrome, and knobs.....er

oh never mind

Get a filmore ;)

I was looking through Adrian’s Mesa F-30 thread. I think that is the Mesa “F” amp I was thinking about.

I am leaning toward the F-30.

I like @gball ‘s description of it.

I'm sure you know that the F-series was discontinued a while back. It was replaced with the Express series, which have also now gone the way of the Dodo. The amp that covers all the F-series/Express bases (plus a few more!) is the Mark 5:25/35. The Rectoverb is a radically different sounding amp, not really comparable at all. I haven't had the chance to play the new Fillmore 25 but Mesa usually does a good job with their sound samples, so judging from that it's not really the same thing either - it's seemingly a "vintage inspired" amp with more gain than an actual vintage amp but lacking the really high-gain capability that the other amps we're talking about have.

This is of course relevant only if you are looking for a new amp, as there are plenty of used ones available out there if that's the direction you want to go.

"F" -30 ...then we can be twinsies -- JACKSONS through F-30's FOOGIN SCREAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WAIL -- SHRIEK --HOWL and warp your mind into all sorts of twisted metallic shred-fest contortions...........

its all i can do to concentrate on work and not just rub my junk on it all day long...............

I firmly blame Hackmaster--- and Chasfred---- gball a little as well---- they said it would blow my mind------ and well --- only tattered pieces remain (soaked in rum of course)

Thank, G, for the very helpful info!

No, buying used or discontinued doesn’t bother me at all. My Fender Champ was 40 years old when I got it.

Good sound is good sound!

Although, I remain somewhat interested in the Rectoverb, I am now leaning more toward the F series. I like how you describe it as having more of the trademark Mesa sound.

G, Hack, and Chas...

The Mesa Gang.

You don’t suppose this is some sort of conspiracy, do you?

If it is -- its the best conspiracy I have been involved in!!!
lol

Yup. Once you go Boogie you never go back, even if you try (which I did and failed). Plus, and I have said this before, they have the best master volume of any amp I have ever used at any price.

I don’t think I’d ever ditch my Boogie for anything other than another Boogie.
I agree, that's how Adrian got the F30.
With the RectoVerb 25 to amuse me, I was just ignoring the lovely little F30.
It made me sad, but thru the wonderful process of Ferengi Barter, made Adrian VERY happy.

GRINNING FROM EAR TO EAR AND WAILING on the Dean Shredder----floyd FLYING and bombing in an epic cacophony of ear shattering BLISS!!!!!!!!!!!

and THAT is with the attenuation engaged!!!!!!!!!!! --walls vibrate -- critters run for cover----THIS is 30 watts????? DAMN YOUR EYES it must be 100!

the knobs are SO RESPONSIVE-- slight adjust nets huge differential in tone----but wait-- set the amp-- then ---- ADJUST --ever so slightly the GUITAR knobs and a MILLION NEW tonal subtleties are available ..........it is ------amazing

I must admit that being without Boogie I am feeling very vulnerable and inadequate.....
*sigh*

I will attempt to sonically beat it out of me with Jackson Action into 18w TMB later today.

I would go home and go big with Silkyn Super 50 fury, but alas she is down for the count at this time.
*sigh*

Ha Ha boogie on ye Boogie bastages!
And on and on Boogie
Lord have Mercy!!

If it’s of any consolation, my 18 watt gets more play time than my Boogie...by quite a large margin.

Chas you buy that Filmore yet?

Hurry before you leave FLO-RI-DUH...I wanna play it!
