The Muse I Adorn

Tonight after acoustic practice I figured it was time to plug something in.
Been so long for this girl I actually forgot for a while how the switching works :-(

Edit, had it for a couple of years, still got the plastic on the pickups, Oh the shame.

Exactly why I sold my Squier Jaguar; I liked it but didnt LOVE it and it wasnt getting played.
The play was a one in one out; opened the door for me to get my Jackson Dinky.
I LOVE Black Jackie.
She got some play a few days ago but I didnt snap a pic.

Back to the Agile AL2000; I have been on the fence about the pickups.
She did real well tonight with the Orange Micro Terror.
I started low volume with some dirt and got some real good heavy crunch with the MT just at edge of break up and stacking the Soul Food to push a Dano Fab Distortion a little harder. upping the gain on the Fab got muddy, but backing off and pushing a bit of transparent OD from the Soul Food worked well.

Then I focused on just guitar into amp at some higher gain, or heavier crunch, albeit with the A2 PAFish pickups and got some pretty good... I wanna say Aerosmith Sweet Emotion kind of tone vibe, though I wasn't playing that song. Or maybe more LIck and a Promise, similar vibe.

Also, theres always that wonky honky G B string D chord sound in lighter crunch i cant quite make work; have not found the answer.

Of late, its been almost exclusively my double neck. Maybe its the uniqueness, or my birthdate serial number, or the msssive necks, but there certainly is a bond there. The low impedance (8.2k) bridge retains its character even at very high gain levels and it gives off this very dark, Iommi-esque tone...

I picked up my old 1987 Stratocaster Squire last night to show a student how to identify and adjust a single coil to eliminate a wolftone.

I was shocked. I could hardly play the thing...and this was beyond familiarity. So, I started looking at it and recalled that when I gave it to my 10 year old, I dropped the action way down for him.

All my 24.75" scale guitars have the action set at .070" both sides and the Squirecaster was around .040" or so. What a difference!!! It was harder to play on the lower action - the strings were almost impossible to grab for leads, so I raised it up to .070" and it was a great improvement.

Quinten will have to work a little harder now... :-)

Please explain why it is harder to play with lower action. My action is always set super low.

Holding chords may be easier...but in this project, we seldom hold chords of any kind. Most everything is fast passages played on individual strings. With low action, its easy to "miss" a string when playing fast because your fingers hit the board. Higher action affords greater dexterity.
