Amp has developed a problem :(

So yesterday I had a phone call and was playing my guitar. I reached over to turn my amp down and noticed something. When I turn the volume all the way down it's like it's on 1 but when you turn it up just a hair it goes quiet & then it will start to gain volume. So basically the amp is on 1 and it's almost no volume but turning it down actually turns it up more. It doesn't rotate all the way around backwards or anything.
Ibanez TSA15H. Volume pot going bad?

how does it work at 12:00, 3:00 and cranked?
Isnt that all that matters?

Kidding, sounds like a bad pot.
The tone pot on my cheapy Pacifica is flakey near zero (it jumps to full on), but I dont ever run it there so I ignore it for now.
That was the source and the point of my first smart-alecky remark.

I hear tube amps have a limited life span, and then must be disposed of in the safe, legal, and proper manner.
The newer UL compliant ones have an end-of-life alarm, like a carbon monoxide alarm.
I can PM the address to send it if you like.

LOl I hear tube amps....

Yeah honestly I usually don't use the volume knob on the amp down that low. I usually set it at 10:00-11:00 and run the 30w @ 9:00.
I was just wondering if it might be a tube thing? I was guessing it was the pot so for now I won't worry about it.

Try some fader cleaner luber then?
Almost any change or odd ball behavior might be tube related.
If it eases your mind and you have spares, try swapping one at a time and test the function.
Could narrow it down for consideration on future course of action.

It would bother me.
Not scare me to: "should I NOT play this amp?", fearing a catastrophic failure, but

I do have some extra tubes around somewhere. Not sure if I have the right ones but maybe. When I get back from Ohio tomorrow I'll check that out.

I have had it roughly a year but I also bought it used. The guy I got it from had JJ's installed at some point if that's what your thinking?

I was actually thinking is it still under warranty.
Next, was like DonP said.
Next Got any De oxit? Or just spin the dial back and forth a zillion times to see if it clears up

Be careful I'm only repeating what i hear on the hinterwebs, pots need the right Deoxit formula, the F5.
Not sure if the Cleaner, D5 is ok for pots.
And regular contact cleaner is not.

When I get back from Ohio tomorrow I'll check that out.
OHIO!?!?! --- what, you lose a bet?--be careful its an entire state with people LIKE ME and Sp8ctre!!!!!!!!!!---its a very scary place indeed!
