DIY Pedal build - Rookie Style!!

Good idea. Get some good rest and a fresh start.

A common "newbie" mistake is orienting the bypass switch 90° wrong.

I'm comparing the details that I see of the wiring at the footswitch to the instructional pdf diagram that you posted. They do not match!

I should have mentioned - they match on terms of VERTICAL ROWS. Ivan told me he likes to swap the center and the left, so I followed his advice, and then a step further by putting the rows where most convenient. However, they should match vertically. What say you?

First of all, you might have more than one issue with the whole build. But the switch still looks wonky. And there are more ways than one to wire up these types of footswitches. Too much spaghetti in there, too... but this is how you learn.

Maybe Mr. Ivan can pinpoint some issues. Too bad you reside on the other side of the continent. Otherwise, I would invite myself over and play with your toys. I like projects, too... hint hint...

You are welcome anytime, wonky switch or not!

I know I left too much cord, but I have no foresight for placement, so I figured I could clean it up once I got it to work. It appears I must learn the hard way!

The intent
of inquiring the nature
of the indent
is time well spent.

This would be far too ambitious a first build for me; I figured it more likely mine would NOT work the first time round.
The simpler circuit would be easier to troubleshoot more so than easier to build.

The SHO and FF were good intros for every aspect of the process.
From laying out spacing and drilling the enclosure through the end.
My biggest first mistake was going too hot soldering to the footswitch terminals, the whole pocket the terminal is in melted.

Watch out for stray strands of stranded wire going where they oughtn't.

I hope you get it sorted easily.
I tend to learn best the hard way; dont get frustrated you are far from alone.

All I could see on the PDF was layouts it would be help full to have a schematic. Starting a pin 1 through pin 8 on the JRC4580D what are your voltages Ray ???

good point; i always meter them to start to make sure I have it right, and proof out the switch.

Thanks Plexi. I wish I could answer that question, but I am just following the schematic to the best of my ability, along with some detailed instructions from Ivan.
