Never thougyt of that. I need hands on experienceAlso, any zero nut system will make open strings sound like fretted strings or capoed (is this a real word?) strings.

That is a no. Level is EXACTLY level to the best of the luthier's ability, not the best out of 4Also, any zero nut system will make open strings sound like fretted strings or capoed (is this a real word?) strings.

Yes, of course. For the ultimate in precision, a level of all frets, including the Zero fret, would be optimum. But, I bet with the 4 different fret heights available, one should be able go get very satisfactory results. These frets slide in snuggly between the board and nut. And if perfection is needed, the frets of the Zero Glide system can be individually leveled to matched the level of the other frets. A high percentage of reviews are very positive for the ZG system. I have not found a review that addresses a mismatch of fret height or unevenness. That is a no. Level is EXACTLY level to the best of the luthier's ability, not the best out of 4
I would agree that few would notice the variation. I wonder how noticable the difference between a zero fret and nut is with respect to the sound of an open string. I searched for comparisions without success, and little in the way of discussion.Yes, of course. For the ultimate in precision, a level of all frets, including the Zero fret, would be optimum. I haven't tried this yet, but if you are used to standard E tuning, and ya like yer Cowboy chords, tune down a half step to Eb. Now capo behind the first fret, and you'll be back to E tuning. Now listen to your open chords, cuz the open strings are now anchoring off the first fret which is now the zero fret.I wonder how noticable the difference between a zero fret and nut is with respect to the sound of an open string.
