I think he missed a few especially given that with out Uli , Malmsteen might have not been in that position.
Schenker got Uli the Job when he left Scorpions so the German connection is not being made here.

Solid list. Absolutely agree with Jimmy Page as number 1 and don't have any argument with any of the other choices, especially Randy and Tony.
As Norm said, we'd all probably create a very different list from one another (and Zakk himself would be on my own).

I agree. He does have Frank Marino, Alan Holdsworth and AL Demiola. Great players who lay down some great guitar that helped carve the path to metal guitar.
I don't disagree with his list its just hard to get everyone in a short list.
 
It is fun to make lists like this but how to compare artists and what their contribution meant to music. I'd Swap Blackmore for Iomi and maybe Beck for Page, for a top 12 I would add the man himself whose name is on more guitars than anyone Les Paul.

I know its not a popular opinion but there are secretly a lot of us that don't really "get" the Hendrix thing and wouldn't put him on a list. Flame suit on, but he's definitely not a top 11 guy for me, and apparently not for Zakk either. I really like his music, but I find most (but not all) of his guitar playing to be wank.
 
G, no flame suit necessary. We all have our own tastes. I just went with his comment about being more than just a guitar player (writing skills). I just think Hendrix was such a pioneer, for the things he came up with back in the 60’s. He had no predecessor (well I’m sure he had influences).

Actually....Zakk's firstborn is literally named Hendrix.

His full name is Hendrix Halen Michael Rhoads Wylde

I'm willing to bet that over time, Zakk's list probably changes too. I know mine would.

ok I will ante up my unpopular opinion, never was a fan of EVH , I admit his virtuosity by was never really into his playing.
