Yup! I went and did it.

This is an Epi, Mitch? I am seeing Frets over binding and not frets cut short and giant nibs like Gibson was doing.

I was always hesitant about V's first the body shape had to grow on me astethically as for a while I found them to be almost too odd looking, and much preferred SG's, Les Pauls, and explorers. but I quickly got over that and started to see them as rather cool and in a way kinda classic hard rock metal. Then I thought they would be too uncomfortable for me. Eventually I had to have one. Local music stores really only have the jackson randy rhoads style V's and...I still really don't like that style of V from a visual standpoint. So this being a ritchie faulkner axe, having pickups I wanted to try and I thought would contrast well with my Jackson..well I had to take the chance.

I actually find this the most comfortable guitar in my posession.. so over time when sitting I found that I prefer playing in the classical position, more comfortable on the wrists and I can hit the higher frets a whole lot more easily. And when standing...it sits much the same way. being able to lock the guitar in with my legs due to the V design just helps me feel more solid when sitting unlike my other guitars which might slide a bit. This one's jack is under the top wing, but I always get 90 degree cables for my guitars anyways so I don't even notic it there. and the pickups.....

The sound of this guitar...and its not just me. So I was at the production company. We did a demo of my first song, this was to give my vocalist something to practice and lock in his voice with, refine bits, see what needs to be taken out or added, and seeing who in their company I would mesh well with during my process as well as learning how they do things...which is much better and more streamlined than what I ever did. and we plan on doing the actual recording in a few weeks

So for a while we where just laying down the main riffs, basica melodies, getting to know everyone. So I was rocking the Jackson with the 81-85 EMG combo. I got a lot of compliments on my tone through my marshall and 2x12. when I switched over to the V everyone could hear the stark contrast. While people liked the jackson tone, my buddy found it really harsh... which is the normal complaint about 81 pickups, and I actually kinda like it, I find that it does help cut and has a more aggressive vibe to it. so when I hooked up the V and played some licks to make sure it was in tune. people were blown away. One the VERY distinct contrast (which combined with the 81-85 on riffs helped make a VERY heavy tone) I didn't change a thing on my amp, same settings people thought everything changed. So my buddy is there whatching me record with this axe and he said he can FEEL it resonate and that there was something about this guitar and the way I played it.

Originally I was going to do the solo with the Jackson, but my friend told me that I HAVE to use the V for the solo he felt that strongly about this guitar. Honestly this guitar made a lot of people feel a certain and pleasant way. It's pretty much replaced the Jackson as my main axe without my intent.

Beautiful review on a stellar ax my brother, I have to keep remembering that Faulkner is the guitarist that took KK’s spot, long time Priest fan here, since sad wings of destiny was a brand new album, rock on with it bro, and congratulations on a fine , and memorable instrument. Cheers

Thanks! while I've always liked Judas priest, its 3 or 4 years recently I really got into them. Their recent albums are killer and Faulkner's playing really does the band justice, I think he's a really good replacement for downing, abliet kinda a shame that KK wanted to stop doing it but I can see how you would just get tired of the constant travelling and strict schedules after so many years. Unfortunately I think Glen is about to depart too if he hasn't already due to Parkinsons.

True so many of my favorite bands are unfortunately in this spot, but the Priest will always live on in there recordings. Cheers
