Remember when I mentioned my neighbor uses s real thick pick? His is one of those little itty bitty teardrop picks but is 4mm thick! He thrives on YouTube and some goof there said this was "the only pick worth using ever" . And being a YouTube junkie he believes it. Came over about a year ago before I sold off about everything and was playing my LP Custom with a fender heavy (biggest I had) and he whined and bitched the whole time about skinny picks! He claims he couldn't play unless his pick is 4mm. And he ain't no shredder either. Claims to be pure blues. Never seen a bluesman play with a plank!
I still have a Tony's Musik pick And a Hello Kitty one... plus an assortment of Fender mediums.
But I only use one for my bass, any thinner than 3mm and I get anxious about it. I got it free when ordering something else from a company called Hell Guitars, who seem to have gone underground now. It's thick, sculpted so it slides off the string, and made of a softish plastic that can even fool the listener into not realising I'm using a pick. I've been trying to find others like it and so far only Chicken Picks comes close, although they're more clacky. Annoyingly they do 3.5mm tiny picks and 2.5mm bigger picks, no 3mm ones!
